Temple Key: the crypt key
Temple Altar: The Unholy Codex of the Arch-Lich rests on a pedestal here.
Look Altar:
The Unholy Codex radiates evil as a furnace radiates warmth. This tome is
said to contain the horrid secrets of the process of lichdom. The volume
itself is huge and must weigh several hundreds kilograms.

Following Description / FINFO:

January 1, 2002
Molo, leader of The Black Conclave of Nashite, Intermediate Power of the Sword.
Following's self-perceived alignment: Lawful Evil.

Black Conclave Founding History:

(taken from theblackconclave.org, via the Internet Wayback Machine, circa 2001):
The early days of the Conclave were peaceful and filled with purpose. They explored and mapped the realm, they researched magic and powerful magical items. Grayghost the Arch-Mage of the Black Conclave was the first High Council member and with his great wisdom and the guidance of the lich, he marked the rules of the Conclave that still exist today.
Entrance into the Conclave was very difficult in those days, so the Conclave was very small. They were considered the elite even back then, only spell casters were admitted and even then only by passing one of Grayghost's difficult quests.
Times changed rather quickly though when one day, Salem (the lich's former apprentice) on the day of his twentieth cycle was walking through the guild on his way to the donation pit. Salem feared no one, he had only once before taken a life and that was done in self-preservation. He had some extra trinkets and decided to place them in the pit for young adventurers when suddenly Syrinx (leader of the Court of Justice and the single most powerful mortal in the realm at that time), Jerald (a self-proclaimed 'good' warrior-cleric-poet) and Anwar (a paladin) faded into existence around the young Salem and slaughtered him.
The Conclave had never hurt anyone, they had never done anything to deserve the attack that they received from that 'good' group. So the Conclave changed from that point onward and has been slaying infidels in retribution ever since. When the Conclave kills, blame the death on those three infidels who murdered the lich's apprentice.

Requirements for Entry

(Taken from theblackconclave.org, via the Internet Wayback Machine, circa 2001)
First Time Members
By order of the High Council, the entrance requirements for standard membership within the Black Conclave has changed (1/21/2001).

The minimum level requirement for entrance into the Conclave is currently 15th level. No applicant may enter as long as their name rests upon the TFC Conclave's Black List.

To enter our Conclave, an applicant must perform the quest of a single 'active' High Council Member and also receive the recommendation of two additional High Council Members. Each High Council member conducts the issuance of their quests differently, but each quest is issued to test the knowledge, experience and commitment of the applicant. The two additional High Council Members which provide recommendations are to question the applicant as to their reasons for joining and limits of their commitment.

The applicant must know the two Laws of Nashite.

The applicant must be wearing a complete set of equipment at the time of their induction. This set of equipment need not be magical, but all available slots must be filled (this includes pride items). Applicants brought before the lich in a state of undressed will be removed from the crypt.

The applicant must have either 50,000 gold on their person or in the safe keeping of Merrick or Guido. This capital is not turned into the Conclave, it is merely to show that they have individual financial worth.

The applicant's bounty must be greater than 50,000 gold.

The applicant must bring a sacrifice to the lich before being admitted. An acceptable sacrifice would be a player corpse (empty) of any kind. They need not have killed the player themselves or have participated in the kill. It may even be a corpse of themselves. The lich wants a sacrifice.
They will sacrifice the corpse AFTER being told to worship but before being admitted into the Conclave.

The applicant will be asked a simple question concerning the Conclave, the Lich or the Nashite faith. The answer to this question will most certainly come from these web pages. Failure to properly answer this question is cause for the applicant to be turned away until a time when they can answer another question.

Nashite Transfers
Current members of any Nashite following may request a free transfer from their current following into the Conclave. These mortals should declare their intentions to their present immortal before seeking the Arch-Lich. The Arch-Lich will not speak to any mortal concerning a transfer before they speak to their immortal.
Former members of a Nashite faith whose immortal has been deleted or retired may request free admittance if they have not committed any acts of heresy and have maintained their following's title.
Nashites from other followings which have their names on the Conclave's Black List may not enter until they have their name removed.

The High Council
In January of 2001, the High Council passed a measure to raise the requirements for admittance into the High Council. Prior to this measure, High Council members merely had to achieve 30th level in a class. The new measure details that all High Council members must be: (1) effective 40th level; (2) have two Inner Circle recommendations; and (3) pass a test of Nashite knowledge and Conclave law.
The Conclave's High Council is unlike any mortal group that has ever existed in the realm of The Final Challenge. It wields true power in the following, making all laws and controlling all new members.

Leaving the Black Conclave:

(Information taken from theblackconclave.org, via the Internet Wayback Machine, circa 2001:)
On those rare occasions where a mortal wishes to leave the ranks of the Conclave, there are two provisions. Implementor Reform and Apostatize. There is a difference on how we treat both of these.

An Implementor Reform will result in level loss and can only be performed by a Greater God or Implementor. A Conclave member who wishes this form of reform may do this with no ill will for a variety of reasons. No special action is taken on a former follower who takes an Implementor reform.

Using the command Apostatize is considered an immediate act of heresy. The command causes a loss of five levels and the Conclave will treat the heretic as a preferred enemy and traitor for publicly renouncing the Nashite faith.

Nashite Transfers: Current members of the Conclave may request a free transfer to another active Nashite following. These mortals should declare their intentions to the Arch-Lich and the new immortal. The transfer will occur when both Nashite immortals are present.

Additional Notes

  • Lancelot wrote an Ode to the Hunters of the Black Conclave.
  • Molo posts a note about Conclave Statistics as of Sep 21, 1997.
  • The Conclave had very rigid rules on titles, based on class and level. Individuals on the High Council were permitted unique titles, designating them with a certain role within the Council.
  • The Conclave would, randomly and without warning, hold a Day of Deception. On these days, members were invited/encouraged to choose titles that would be deceptive - suggesting membership in other followings. The purpose of this was to sow confusion and possibly trick the unwary into making a mistake that might cost them their life. Examples from a Day of Deception, back in 2000:
Elf [ Th: 4 Ra:30 Cl:30 ] Qithlorien, Hurricane of WIND
Elf [ Wa:26 Cl:30 ] Shorn stalks your sleep..-=Tamar=-*-=DREAMWALKER=-
Elf [ Ma:25 Wa:15 ] Silonch passionately virtuous.
Hum [ Wa:30 Cl:30 ] Rath, Fearsome Tempest of the Wind

[ 13] Molo: Conclave's 10th Anniversary
Fri Jan 20 11:12:50 2006
To: all
On this day in 1996 the Black Conclave was born. The Conclave is
TFC's oldest following with a rich history and roster of hundreds
upon hundreds of members, who have helped in shaping TFC history.

To my Conclave, I would like to extend my congratulations on
10 years of existence.

And on behalf of the Conclave, I would like to extend thanks to
Tynian and his staff for maintaining TFC all these years so the Conclave
would have a place it could call home.

Molo the Arch-Lich
Master of the Black Conclave

For the event Natilena created a large cake in the Room of Records and littered the world with Nashite Unbelievers which would attack Conclave members and Fat Goats that praised Lord Nash. A plaque was also added to the Room of Records.
