ANATHEMA: (/əˈnaTHəmə/)
(1) One is greatly reviled, loathed, or shunned. Cursed and damned.
(2) A formal ecclesiastical ban, curse, or excommunication.
(3) A vehement denunciation; a curse.

Anathema was a title given by Cordir, in reference to those who attacked or stole from members of her following, the Chosen of Fate, three or more times, or who successfully PK'd a member of her following once. Those who were on the Anathema List were not to be spoken to, traded with, sold to, or assisted in any way. (Interaction with an Anathema was grounds for punishment for any member of the Chosen of Fate - Lanfear received a week's restriction to the Guild, and Tranquility received many a public rifting, for violating this rule.) As well, Cordir would not record their achievements on her personal website's Timeline of Events. Rabhadh (a Gaelic word meaning 'Warning Cry' or 'Alarm'), was the term used for those who had attacked or stolen, but not yet reached Anathema status.

A process existed for removal from the Anathema List. This included:

  1. Obtain the forgiveness of the person attacked or slain. If they're inactive, contact Cordir.
  2. Write a note to ALL, publicly stating that you will no longer attack members of the following. Note who you killed or attacked, specifically apologizing to them.
  3. Gain the consent of 3 Chosen in your PK range.
  4. Petition any member of the Taoiseach, and ask them to bring it up for a vote. If you can't find a council member, ask an Ordained or Handmaiden to relay the request.
