[ 48] Keller: A poem
Tue Oct 8 19:04:31 1996
To: all
I generally don't write poetry, because it tends to get ripped apart not on its own merit, but because of who and what I am. However, things have happened that I'd like to write about, so I am. If you feel the need to criticize, please do so in a private tell to me, rather than publicly. Thank you.
Keller Amberlin D'Augustine, Knight and Paladin of Lord Tel.

There is a house that no man has lived in,
a house with curtains of time,
and when you walk into it's cool shadows,
you forget what you are, for a while.
You can pretend that the girl she still loves you true,
That your duty and love are the same,
You can pretend for a while that you can still smile,
Before duty drags you out again.
I once found the house where no man does live,
But try as I may and dream as I might,
the path...
the path is.......
the path is oblivion, and life is denial.

[ 8] Keller: ooc: WarMachine's note, and complaints about randoms in general.

To: all
Now, I will freely admit that I was gone for a while, but it seems to me that these people who are complaining about the quality of randoms are either wishing for a world where everything they pick up is a +5 superitem, or they've been spoiled by a world in which those items exist. I remember when a +3 item was cause to be very happy, and now it seems that if it's not that, it's not worth wearing. My question then would be that if the powers that be actually take your suggestion to heart and 'improve' randoms, how long would it be before you complained about the improved randoms?
It seems to me that to find a nice magic item should be a rariety. The fact that some players have found a lot of them is a testament to either their skill in playing the game, or their skill in killing people who have skill in playing the game. :) Those people should be rewarded. If you want nice items, spend all day searching for them as I'm sure some of the people who possess them do. But seriously, folks, you don't know when you have it good :)
Keller, who remembers when +2dam bracelets were a big-ticket item.

[ 20] Keller: M'lady, I recommend myself unto you and offer the following:
Mon Jul 15 03:10:29 2002
To: Cordir , Lady Fate
I was adventuring today, attempting to better myself as M'lord Tel has instructed, when a strange malady gripped me, making me unable to move. During this time, some foul creatures took it upon themselves to slay me, as I was powerless to defend myself. Although, for one brief, shining moment I was able to move again and thus combat them, hoping to gain enough movement to cast myself towards the relative safety of the guild, this ailment struck again at a most inopportune time and freed me only upon their successful reaving of my soul from its mortal bonds. At this point, knowing I could not face them and retrieve what I had lost armed with only my will and a ball of blue light, I endeavored to find aid. Clumsyfool, who I asked first, was willing and came to my aid without hesitation, but the gatekeepers of the land I was in proved wily, attacking in numbers where singly they could be easily defeated. It became apparent to me that I needed someone, like myself, who had finely crafted metal armor, the better to withstand their blows. At this point, I asked Quarnel if he could aid me. To his credit, and without hesitation, he readily accepted, rousting those creatures who had followed our earlier unsuccessful sojourn, and moreover leading us into the veritable lions den, where all my possessions were retrieved safely.
While I have thanked both Clumsyfool and Quarnel already, I felt that you needed to know that in Quarnel you have a follower whose bravery and selflessness are quite rare. I consider myself lucky to know him, and only hope that, should the unthinkable happen, I can return the favor to you and yours that has been shown me this day.
Written at the breaking of fast in the Great Hall of Torkheim Cathedral
this 11 Searynx, Month of Reconciliation, by my hand. I remain, as always,
Keller Amberlin D'Augustine, by the Grace of Tel Duke and Regent of Borea.

Character History:

"My name is Keller ... or, I suppose if you want to get very technical, my name is Sir Keller Amberlin D'Augustine, by the grace of the gods son and heir to the Duke of Southshire, Knight and Paladin of Lord Tel of the Passionate and defender of the faith. I like the shortened version better...it holds less in the way of bad memories and worse responsibilities. That might seem a tad ironic...most times, the ordainment as a Paladin, the responsibilities of defending and upholding the faith, the minor magics such as the seeing eye...most times that's the most important thing, the heaviest burden, in anyone's life. Most times, I say, because being the Duke of Southshire's son is proving to be far more of a burden than anything I could have imagined as a Paladin..."

04/17/2002: Keller tells the tale of his wedding - Log begins part way into the story:
### [Keller says (in common), 'and there was something appealing about the young lady who was being taken to my fathers justice.']

Keller says (in common), 'and the fact she's the only person who made much sense here. I don't understand the north very well. So, be that as it may, in the fullness of time we fell in love, and she was aquitted. However... at the time, she had served Thaygar's Ebon hand, as many people of little means did...feeling cast out of the realms of righteousness. And it so happened that with the fullness of time, Thaygar ascended to those levels that do not alrequire a god to have worshippers to sustain their power and we made plans to wed. However, molo had staked some sort of prior claim.'

Lexie raises an eyebrow. Lexie says (in common), 'how?'.

Keller says (in common), 'I do not know, M'lady. I am not privy to the whims of the gods and I have never heard that part of the story fully.'.

Lexie nods.

Cordir says, 'He had no claim on me, Keller. He did what he did simply to cause you pain.'.

Lexie curtseys gracefully for you.

Keller says (in common), 'then mores the pity, M'lady, for it was not me his pained alone.'.

Cordir nods silently.

Keller says (in common), 'be that as it may, the wedding day came...and Molo took what he wished.'.

Leru gasps in astonishment. Leru says (in common), 'that's bad'.

Lorax nods.

Lexie nods in recognition to Leru.

Keller says (in common), 'so since I could not attack molo directly, I declared war on his faith. His is the only faith I consider wholly evil, and beyond redemption, and those who are in it I will fight for so long as they are within his grasp.'.

Lexie nods in recognition to Keller.

Keller says (in common), 'there's little else I could do.'. Keller shrugs. 'At any rate, that is more or less all I'm willing to tell.'.

Lorax shows his approval by clapping his hands together.

Lexie beams a smile at Keller.
Lexie says (in common), 'Good story :)'.
