Laura, the player of DarkClaw and other TFC characters, passed away after a long illness. She was 50 years old.
Laura started playing TFC around 1996, and has played regularly since, until her last visit on July 10th. She was an avid role player, and led two different followings during her tenure as DarkClaw. She was also the president of my fan club.
In honor of DarkClaw, her following will continue in her absence for one month after her last login.
I am really going to miss her, but I am thankful for the time she shared with TFC and myself.

We have lost a dear member of our TFC family.
A wake will be held in her memory in the Temple of the Lost (transport will be provided),
on Sunday, July 23rd, starting at Noon system time. We will be gathering remembrances at
the wake for inclusion in a memorial book, to be shared with her family and added to the
Library. So come and join us. Lift a glass, tell a tale, and remember.

Thank you mi lady for the moments we shared.
Everything is always changing ...

My personal basis is not to mourn death, but celebrate life.

I welcome, to that end, all of us forever remembering and speaking
when something comes up that DarkClaw, Star, or any of her many names
remind us of her.

"I remember being with her when..."
"I remember when we were in THIS zone..."
"She was doing this thing, and I snuck up upon her..."

No matter the story...tell the tale. Always, always, let us reminisce.

I cannot think of a better way to honor those that pass than that.

I'm saddened to hear laura's long fought battle has come to an end :(
She was a good friend since the day I first spoke to her back in the mid 90's,
She was very sweet, caring and compassionate and will be remembered forever.
My heart goes out to her husband, family, and loved ones. May she rest in peace...

Laura was an incredibly sweet and kind person. I have many fond memories of her both on TFC and off. I am very sad to hear of her passing. The world is certainly a little darker without her.

When I first returned to TFC after many years absence, DarkClaw took me under her wing and taught me the basics of playing again.
She geared me up and watched me lose it all over and over, she never tired of trying to help myself and many, many others in the realm.
I remember when I was going through a really bad patch in RL, she was there every night on MSN, chatting to me, letting me vent my anger
and frustration and get it all out of my system. It's sad that I never got to meet her personally but I will never forget the memories I have of her.

Damn, she will be missed by many. DC was one of the kindest people at TFC. I will try to make it to the wake.

Plaque 40: Room of Records

Thousands of people have contributed to the world of The Final Challenge over
its many years of existence. Few have had the longevity and blazed as fiery a
trail over its colorful history as Laura (Longberry) McIntyre, known here by
a number of identities, but primarily as DarkClaw. Laura began playing in '96
and was quickly drawn into intrigues and roleplay. Losing herself in a scene
was her greatest joy. In later years, it was an escape from difficult times,
one that she oftentimes would comment on to friends and family. Second only to
her love of RP was her joy in giving assistance to those who were new to TFC.
Many newbies got their first welcome to TFC from Laura.

As DarkClaw, Laura found her home in the Kindred Vampyric, already Turned by
Dalamar. The dark, gothic tone of this heavy RP-based following suited her to
perfection. Many were lured into the darkness of Khore's cave, either by her
friendliness and help, or her wicked wiles, and she stayed with Khore until
his promotion to God+. In the Kindred, Arcanes, Coven, and Dark, she learned
the delights of evil and chaos. In the Chosen of Fate, she learned of ritual
and mystery, requesting (but not completing) a Trial of Triat Mastery. There,
she also served as an Ordained, bearing the title, 'Goth Princess.' During
that time, she created the "Tynian Fan Club" which amused the Founder so much
he granted her a classtitle for a day of 'Implementor.'

Encouraged by several of her Deities, she petitioned for and was granted the
responsibility and trust of Immortality in 2007. Many bemoan the duty, but
DarkClaw truly enjoyed her time as an Ambassador. When she was promoted to
DemiGoddess, she became the leader of the Keepers of the Elements. During this
time, she contributed to the development of the Outland Frontier by writing the
North Sava River. In 2008, she was promoted to Lesser Goddess. For another two
years, she led the KotE, retiring in April of 2010. In 2012, she returned to
TFC full time and asked to be an FLI again. She was restored to Demigoddess on
June 2, 2012, creating the Lost. The following year, she was promoted to Lesser
Goddess for the second time. At the time of her loss, there were 77 individuals
on the roster of the Lost - the largest following on TFC at that time.

Laura was also a prolific writer, her favorite medium being poetry, which she
shared on the mud and via Facebook. Many of these works can be found on her
wiki page and in the Grand Library, to which she contributed several pieces of
content, and planned to write more.

Due to very poor health, Laura was unable to work or travel the last several
years of her life. Her many close online friendships became especially precious
to her, and she referred to them as a lifeline on more than one occasion. She
had friends around the globe and in many different online environments. As a
mortal she was faithful to her friends and respectful to her enemies. As an
immortal, she inspired loyalty and love from her many followers.

She will be missed.
