The Guardian Spider

Official Information

Guardian, formally known as The Guardian Spider, is a black widow of varying size, depending upon the situation and her whim (ego) at that moment. For centuries, she has spoken to those who would join the Chosen of Fate of the matter of Geasa, educating them on this most sacred of Chosen rituals. She can be seen Within the Tapestry of Fate and in The Sanctuary of Fate. Upon Cordir's Ascension to Lesser Goddess, Guardian became embodied within the temple.

Within the Chosen, Guardian was a regular "participant" in Fateful Hours and special events. She was in attendance at the joining ceremonies of nearly every Chosen, Witnessing and recording their Geasa. She also stood as Witness for some of the Triat Mastery quests granted and rituals such as the taking of Apprentices. Despite her often acerbic and sarcastic wit, it was often said that she had a more vicious bark than bite; however, her desire to devour certain elves became legendary.

Guardian is far older than the Chosen of Fate, however. What is not commonly known is that she was a harbinger of the Weaver, before Cordir's first Immortal Ascension, often interacting with Cordir and Deamhan An-Shalach. Guardian lived in the small cottage in the woods that the couple shared and was part of the magics of the place. (This past history was created as part of a series of hybrid stories written off mud & logs by Cordir & Deamhan, for RP purposes: (Reunion)

In these current times, Guardian lives in A Midnight Garden, Cordir's office.

Description:

(White Aura) A distressingly large, shiny black spider weaves webs here.

Look Guardian:

The huge black widow spider glares at you, its eight jewel-like eyes gleaming
with crimson balefire. Its mandibles are daggers of ivory, dripping with some
ichorous poison. It hisses balefully, saying, 'This is no place for a mortal
to be!' and gestures abruptly with one chitinous leg, dismissing you.

Trivia

  • Guardian does have a true-name, which has not been revealed to mortals.
  • Only once in all the history of the Chosen of Fate did someone ask what Guardian actually ate for sustenance, rather than bad temper.
