{{tips|You have the advantage of multiple classes, make sure you use them! Learn, and remember the skills/spells of each of your classes. For instance, if you are a mage/thief, you can alarm the area you are exp'ing in, your alarms go off, you quaff a recall, only to find your forgot to buy some, (it happens! Try and make sure it does not though!) you remember you have teleport potions, but will only use them as a last resort, you do not want to teleport to the Strands of Matter. You then silently curse at yourself for not paying attention to the info of the evil nasty logging on. You then remember what spells you have on you...You already have stone skin, and shield casted on you, you remember that you have imp invis on, you go vis, and cast a regular invis. You sneak and hide your way to the entrance, only to see that there is an evil nasty pc waiting for you. It just so happened that your sneak failed and he/she saw you enter the room. A pk attempt is started, the pk'er tries to blynd you, but you dodged their attempt (thanks to your nice dexterity), you cast darkness, then jump, you then sneak and hide your way all the way back to the guild, all smiles because you fouled up the pk'ers wishes, and you still have your gear. Things you could have done: You could have portaled away, teleported the evil nasty. The possibilities are endless. Once again, that was only an example, you could have been triple classed, or just single classed. Either way, there is always a way out of a pk situation, sometimes it just is not obvious when we are panic stricken. |Katrana}} | |||
== So - You Died: == | |||
{{tips|Let's face it, it will happen eventually, the most invincible/experienced player, eventually dies. When it happens, just remember that eq comes and goes. And to most everyone's surprise, you usually come back better eq'ed then the time before, but it does take time. But eq does not matter! I want everyone to know and realize that. Eq is just there for competition, and to make fighting a bit easier. Other than that, it is junk. The people in your following, the many friends you make, those are what is important. A PK death is a rebirth, a new wonderful creation due to a chaotic destruction. I know a death is frustrating, but it is the start of a new experience, learn from it. Guide others with the knowledge you learned from that pk. Teach others, so that they will not have to encounter the same mistakes you did. |Katrana}} |

General Tips and Tricks:
- The best way to avoid a PK is to be attentive! This sounds easy, or obvious, but after prolonged playtime a player's reaction time can worsen
- Keep several potions in your inventory to cure common PK spells. Examples include teleport potions, sanity potions, remove curse potions, and cure blindness potions.
- Players that use full featured MUD clients will frequently create a "panic" macro, that involves fleeing and drinking an escape potion of some sort. Avoid chaining too many commands together in a panic macro. Often times the later commands are predicated on the success of the early commands.
- Example
- A typical panic macro is "fl;quaff red". This causes the character to flee, then immediately quaff a clear red potion (recall) from their inventory. However, if the flee fails for any reason (player is summoned to a no-exit room, cursed, etc), the flee command will fail and the command to drink the potion will cause the player drink the potion in combat. Aliases are typically more effective than macros, since they allow the player to react quickly without predicating the success of commands on one another.
- Be aware of the PK threats who are online at all times. Double check with a high level friendly character. If no one is available, the Magistrate located on Mt Knowledge can "see" all online players, so use the bounty feature to verify whether PKers are online or not.
