The Lesson

Samiyah asks Elvalee humbly, 'I would like to take classes here at the school. Would that be alright?"

The teacher blinks at your accent, frowning, then nods. "It will be hard work."

Samiyah says with a blush, "I know there are many words I do not know and that my letters are not always right."

Elvalee frowns. "Your accent is horrible. Do you know how to read and write?"

Samiyah hesitates. "...desert script..."

Elvalee frowns. "You will need to learn the letters of common."

Samiyah holds her book to her chest and admits, "I do not like people smirking at me and saying I am uneducated."

Elvalee says, not unkindly, 'What is your name, girl?'.

Samiyah says meekly, 'Samiyah'.

Elvalee says (in common), 'Then we start with that.'.
Elvalee takes a piece of chalk and writes out the individual letters of your name.
Elvalee says (in common), 'Copy that, twenty times each. I have a lesson plan to work on.'.

Samiyah walks over to the slab of slate, picks up the chalk, and practices forming the strange, ugly letters of the common language.

Samiyah writes out the letter "S" many times.

Samiyah frowns in concentration as she tries writing out a line of "A"s.

Samiyah bites her lower lip as she writes out a line of "M"s, though a few have a bit too many bumps.

Samiyah skips practicing her "I"s with a glance over her shoulder at Elvalee.

Samiyah asks Elvalee to demonstrate again how to write a "y".

Elvalee sighs and puts down her papers.
Elvalee writes out both a block print and cursive "Y".

Samiyah makes an attempt at the letter, repeating it on the slate several times.

Samiyah makes a careful (if lopsided and drifting downward) line of 'A's on the slate.

Seraph ftells, 'Morning'

You ftell, 'hello, Sahib.'

Samiyah examines the lines of letters and bites her lip in concentration.

Samiyah attempts a row of "h"s, but most are horribly slanted.

Samiyah hesitantly asks Elvalee for help.

Elvalee sighs and puts down her papers.
Elvalee writes out both a block print and cursive "H".
Elvalee says (in common), 'Try it again.'.

samiyah erases the crooked letters and tries again.

You ftell, 'The letter "H" is hard to write in common, sahib. Much easier in desert script.'

Seraph ftells, 'What are you trying to write?"

You ftell, 'I do not know how to write in common at all... so Elvalee is teaching me.'

Seraph ftells, 'Ahh..'

Samiyah tries stringing the letters together to form her name in Common letters.

Samiyah whispers something to Elvalee.

Elvalee approaches the slate, and writes the letters "E" and "F."

Samiyah carefully practices writing the letter "E."

Samiyah bites her lip as she attempts a row of "R"s.

Samiyah focuses on properly shaping a letter "F" on the uneven surface of the slate.

Samiyah carefully strings the letters together to spell out, "SERAF."

Samiyah repeats the name across the entire width of the slate.
Samiyah grins to herself.

Samiyah thanks Elvalee for the lesson.

Samiyah heads to the Guild and the Hall.

Samiyah pauses outside the Coral Cave, wondering how its occupant is doing.
Samiyah sighs and continues on her way.

Samiyah ponders a moment, then says, 'Though, if you are Nashite, then Sahib Wish is probably your first choice.'
Samiyah murmurs, "Sahib is not.. He... would not be a good choice for one who follows Nash's ways."

Drakar says (in common), 'How so?'.

Samiyah wrinkles her brow in thought.

You say (in common), 'He does not speak well of Nash. I think that his time in the Black Conclave as a mortal was very bad and left an anger in him for Nash.'.

Seithr has entered the game.
Seithr curtseys gracefully.

You say (in common), 'Hedschott used to be almost.. nice... until he decided to leave, and then he was very unkind. He would hunt me, but then turn around and help with a Mob Mastery quest. But when he left, he began trickeries and lies.'.

Mangey...that's what one might think upon first look at this woman.
Her dark, auburn hair is disheveled and unkempt, and her clothing
is wrinkled beneath the elven chain she wears. Even her face is
covered with dirt and grime, causing any person that gazes upon her
to wonder just exactly what she spends her time doing. But despite
all of that, her elven beauty and grace is clearly apparent by her
pointed features and the way she carries herself. Taller than the
typical elf, her height causes her to tower over any ordinary man.
Her calm demeanor is quite the contradiction to her appearance and
even the blue aura that surrounds her seems oddly misplaced. She
shifts her unique gaze to yours and offers a friendly smile and nod
in greeting, eyes the deep blue of twilight assessing you. As she
breaks the hold and turns, it leaves you feeling empty and wondering
if you should follow her into the unknown.
Seithr won't win any beauty contests.
Drakar says (in common), 'That is unfortunate..'.

Samiyah looks up, startled by Seithr's towering height.

Seithr curtseys gracefully.
Seithr waves happily.

Drakar says (in common), 'It is... difficult being someone who is absolutely feared...'.

Seithr straightens and smiles down at Samiyah warmly.

Drakar says (in common), 'For many reasons.. odd as that may sound..'.

You say (in common), 'Have people feared you in the past? Forgive me - I do not know very much about you. No one has ever been scared of me, that is for sure.'.

Samiyah pauses, 'Except maybe Wish when he got Alchemized.'

You say (in common), 'But that wasn't my fault.' She hastens to add, 'He shouldn't have eaten my poem.'.

Drakar says (in common), 'No, I'm not one who those have feared.. But I have observed the nature of many who have been.. The depths it drives one to..'.

You say (in common), 'I have known some that others call villains and terrors.. The Hound, who I once called friend, and then called Hunter, who was the death of me... I hope... '.

Samiyah fidgets, toying with the fringed edge of one long end of her veil.

You say (in common), 'I hope that someday I can truly feel comfortable calling him Friend again... It is still too recent and raw in my mind. Even if I know he did not mean cruelty or malice by it'.

Drakar says (in common), 'We have had our time... His sword is swift... My feet perhaps swifter.. It’s better to live and fight another day..'.

You say (in common), 'He and Eathor worked together - I fled from one, directly into the other.'.

Samiyah's hand unconsciously rises to her temple, where his weapon crushed her skull.

Drakar says (in common), 'A fellow bardling, hmm? And the Hound, you considered him a friend before?'.

You nod.
You say (in common), 'Yes. I still do, it's just... I'm also a little afraid of him now, even though he showed nothing but courtesy and honor and care with my ... '.

Samiyah swallows hard and cannot make herself say the word.

Samiyah gestures vaguely. 'He showed honor and kindness, even in those circumstances. He was Commanded by the Sayyida to Hunt for things my Sahib did.'

Drakar says (in common), 'I would wager, and perhaps I am ill-advised to speak of such things....he only has friends that benefit his purpose.'.

Samiyah wrinkles her brow in thought.

You say (in common), 'There was nothing he could gain from me - the whole time I have known him, he has never asked for anything from me. There was no .. benefit.. to me as a friend.. and yet.. many times he gave advice, or a spare bit of coin, or even a piece of equipment that was spare.'.

Drakar nods.

Drakar says (in common), 'It is ignorant of me to speak of someone I do not know well.. However, the nature of those...there is...a common thread...'.

Seraph ftells, 'hello'.

Drakar says (in common), 'Then, arbitrarily, you know him better than I..'.
Drakar smiles at you.

Samiyah smiles in return.

Seraph ftells, 'oh he sorta interested?'.

Samiyah hesitates, then asks. "may I ask... what manner of ..." She pauses, not sure of the right word.

You say (in common), 'You.. do not look like.. most... I have not seen one such as you before.'.

You ftell, 'not sure.'.
You ftell, '(He's got major evil-only gear, from the look of it, and that might be a difficult thing for him to overcome)'.

Seraph ftells, 'ya'.

You ftell, 'I also expressed that if he was actively Nashite, that it might not sync well with your feelings on that matter'.

Drakar chuckles softly, showing the first inkling of real emotion within.
Drakar says (in common), 'No?'.

You shake your head.
You say (in common), 'no.... I cannot say that I have... I have only ever seen fur on Ogres, and that is sprouting out their ears and nose, and not all over, and not striped... You look almost like one of the cats of the jungle, but ..'.

Drakar says (in common), 'Ahh...stripes.. they come with a price.. I assure you.. Have you heard stories of Lord Tripper?'.

You say (in common), 'Not really, no..'.

Seraph ftells, 'well if Drakar wants to talk I’m in the hall'.

You ftell, 'understood, Sahib.'.

Seraph ftells, 'but keep talking to him'.

You ftell, 'I will'.

Drakar says (in common), 'Long ago, there was an order that existed.. much like your order, which was led by Lorna..'.

Drakar says (in common), 'This was the order of the Flying Tigers..'.

You ftell, 'He served Lord Tripper for a long time, and that seems very much in line with the High Order but he was also a Nashite, so...'.

Seraph ftells, 'everyone can change'.

Samiyah listens carefully.

Drakar says (in common), 'The Flying Tigers were amongst the most honored, respected order in the entire realm..'.

Cresom wakes up.

Samiyah smiles at Cresom's return, murmuring 'Hello, Brother'

Seithr looks between Samiyah and Venom, the scrunches her face. "Thank you, Samiyah. I shall pass the message on, then."

Drakar says (in common), 'We were discussing what a Mini-Lich is, exactly.. and were hoping you could shed some light on the subject..'.

You say (in common), 'I do not know how he does it... but... Perhaps if the warning is widespread, he will find fewer victims.'.

Drakar says (in common), 'or in this case, probably not too much light..as it were..'.

Seithr nods in recognition to you.

Venom says (in common), 'Samiyah, you must stop being such an exaggerator. I have done nothing "evil" per se.'.

Samiyah continues as if Venom is not even present, not so much as glancing at him.

You say (in common), 'Further, he has no problems using mailblack to make people do what he wants, and blames them for his future actions if they do not do as he says.'.

Venom casually dismissed the charge.
Venom says (in common), 'I have done no such thing.'.

Seithr folds her arms over her chest and looks to Venom again expectantly.

Drakar scratches his head.

Samiyah lays a hand across her chest, modestly lowers her eyes, and curtseys.

Samiyah gets a look of both intense fear and curiosity in her eyes.

Seithr blinks at Kerriariadne, seemingly stunned.

Samiyah clasps her shaking hands and sits, listening.

Kerriariadne says, 'Khore held a contest. We know this contest as the first of the Golem Wars.'.

Seithr finds a seat and listens intently, eager for knowledge.

Kerriariadne says, 'If memory serves -- and it does -- two followings won. My chocolate-addicted friend, Bliss, and yours truly.'.

Kerriariadne bows gallantly.
Kerriariadne says, 'We were given prizes.'.
Kerriariadne says, 'a bat necklace each (5dmg)'.
Kerriariadne says, 'a large container - a bat knapsack or some such... 50 kg, I believe'.

Seithr scrunches her face. "What is it with vampires and bats?"

Kerriariadne says, 'and each received a weapon... Suriel and sister Seretas.'.
Kerriariadne says, 'Suriel was a sword - more particularly a piercer.'.

Kerriariadne says, 'It was given to a handful of my Darklings, but eventually landed with Silence, upon his ordainment.'.

Someone draws a cold, frosty beer for Kerriariadne.

Kerriariadne says, 'I won't go into detail the slightly less than perfect wisdom of my decision...'.

You shake your head.
You say (in common), 'No. From his hands, it passed to Seraph's. And from Seraph's, to others, still... then to Hedschott.... And lastly to Teva.'.

Seithr says (in common), 'Teva is its holder now?'.

You say (in common), '.. yes.'.

Seithr frowns.
Seithr says (in common), 'It should be with one of Kerriariadne's own...not with him.'.

Samiyah's expression is clouded with pain at how this knowledge was gained.

Kerriariadne says, 'Why so, Samiyah?'.

You say (in common), 'What the Sahib Kerri did not say... is that the weapon changed names to "Similus, Mace of Suriel".. when it was reformed.. and it is ... alive.'.

Kerriariadne grins evilly.

Seithr blinks and raises an eyebrow. "...Alive? Alive how?"

You say (in common), ‘It has a soul. It remembers. It drinks. It .. changes the one that wields it. It makes them more-than-they-were...'.

Kerriariadne says, 'The most famous weapon of the Dark, surprises me not it has attained a life its own.'.
