The Mysterious Master Bard Performs - Log by Gwyrdain

The Kitchen
[Exits: west]

Hum [ Ra:21 Ma:22 Th:21 ] Gwyrdain is scribbling at a long bench in the Kitchen.

Someone says (in old-common), 'hello, again.'.

You blink.

The Kitchen
[Exits: west]
Any experienced adventurer can tell you that it isn't always easy to
find food. For new adventurers this task is even more difficult.
Originally this room was built to feed those adventurers who could not
do it for themselves. Dues negotiations with guild members forced
cutbacks in the staff and building maintenance so that all that is left
now is a fountain where you can still get a drink.

A small white fountain gushes forth here.

You say (in common), 'It wasn't imagination... or maybe it was. In either case, hello'.

Gwyrdain rolls out a parchment.

Someone smiles happily.

Someone says (in old-common), 'it wasn't. You asked for a song..'.

You say (in old-common), 'Did I?'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'perhaps I misunderstood. Perhaps it was I that was asleep and dreaming.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Oh the sprite who would be bard.'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I am more bard than sprite.'.

You say (in old-common), 'I heard the words.'.

Belsambar licks you.
Belsambar yawns.
Belsambar says (in common), 'how goes?'.

You say (in old-common), 'Hrmm, slowly. just jotting down some old memories'.

You wield a long black quill.

Belsambar peeks over your shoulder.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Perhaps another time would be better..?'.

Belsambar says (in common), 'hmm...yes...farfen gruuten, I remember that'.
Belsambar nods at himself; he must be getting senile.

You say (in old-common), 'Belsambar. Did you hear that voice?'.

Belsambar says (in common), 'what voice?'.

You frown. What's bothering you?

Belsambar says (in common), 'I hear lots of voices. I shoulda said 'which voice'. Wwoulda gotten my joke across better'.

Someone takes a seat on the edge of the fountain, swishing fingertips through the water.

You say (in old-common), 'did you see the waves in the fountain's pool just now?'.

Belsambar nods.

Someone says (in old-common), 'You asked me, last night, to 'sing you a lay' to help the words to flow. One a'plaisance and cheery.'.

Someone tells Belsambar, 'Bels.. can you pretend to be oblivious?'.

Belsambar tells Someone (in common), 'I have to pretend?'.

Someone tells Belsambar, 'DO NOT reveal my presence... but stay in the kitchen...'.

Belsambar tells Someone (in common), '*salutes* Captain Oblivious reporting for duty'.

Someone giggles at Belsambar's actions.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I did not have one ready. I do now. If you would hear it.'.

Gwyrdain tilts his head in curiosity.

You say (in old-common), 'Yes hidden muse, I do wish it'.

Someone smiles happily.
Someone says (in old-common), 'well, as I am no sprite ... I wrote of another bard, who inspired me greatly.'.

Someone sings, 'Have you ever heard the tale'.
Someone sings, 'Of Oook, the Ogre Bard?'.
Someone sings, 'He bellowed songs aplenty,'.
Someone sings, 'and he beat his drum quite hard.'.
Someone sings, 'Rememberer of Skull Top,'.
Someone sings, 'but still, he found new clan'.
Someone sings, 'Found a home among the few,'.
Someone sings, 'Fate's Chosen of the land'.

Someone sings, 'Explore' So-ci-e-ty!'.
Someone sings, 'Blood and gore, he proudly wore,'.
Someone sings, 'Marks of vi-ri-li-ty,'.
Someone sings, 'Sang Songs of Power and he learned'.
Someone sings, 'The sacred names of Three'.
Someone sings, 'His songs brought tears of laughter'.
Someone sings, 'and His songs brought smiles of joy'.
Someone sings, 'He sang of bonsai beasties - '.
Someone sings, '(Was not named for monkey noise)'.
Someone sings, 'Sang he songs of Squishy Things,'.
Someone sings, 'and Triat Mas-te-ry'.
Someone sings, 'He sang of Fire and Darkness,'.
Someone sings, 'Shiny fishes in the sea'.
Someone sings, 'He sang of Mighty Head-Foots'.

Someone sings, 'He might be missing most of teeth,'.
Someone sings, 'His visage might a'fear'.
Someone sings, 'But to all he ever met,'.
Someone sings, 'Our Oook was dearest dear'.

Gwyrdain cracks what may even be the hint of a smile.

The bard falls silent, a smile of remembering flashing across their face.

You say (in old-common), 'I apologize.'.

You bow deeply.

Someone says (in old-common), 'For what?'.

You say (in old-common), 'I disbelieved this strange voice and questioned its veracity. Bard you are. My heart is less weary for a little while'.

Someone says quietly, 'Then I am glad.'

You say (in old-common), 'Thank you. But if bard you are and no sprite our to do mischief...'.

### DarkClaw is visible to all mortals.

>gl
(Intense Dark Purple Aura) DarkClaw is here.

DarkClaw smiles happily.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I am not a sprite. Though I cannot pretend never to have done mischief.'.

DarkClaw shows off her Oook Fan Club button.

Someone says (in old-common), 'That is the very button I mentioned!'.
Someone points at DarkClaw accusingly.

To stand in Her presence is to be rendered speechless: This is no mere mortal,
but the quintessential seductress, potent in her ripe perfection, incarnate in
her beauty. Lilith herself pales in comparison: the gleaming scarlet luster of
Her eyes, the tawdry tumble of Her long sable hair -- as if just risen from an
evening's pleasures...dangerous sensuality is a tangible aura around her, like
the corona of the full moon. Voluptuous curves to make any heart pound, grace
of a stalking leopard, this is not a woman who can be underestimated. Her prey
is delight and sacrifice and sustenance, Scions enraptured in their service to
Her. The particulars of Her ensemble are nearly irrelevant save for the loving
way that an inky velvet gown enfolds Her, falling in regal folds to the ground,
and leather caresses her, drawing in an already narrow waist. The rarest gems
and metals have been crafted into elegant jewelry that cannot compete with Her
beauty, and the delicate flutter of the wings of bats flitting about Her makes
a living, chittering frame to draw every eye. Ancient but untouched by Time, a
power to stir the dreams of the living, She is the gatekeeper of Death itself:
unliving yet utterly alive, undead yet filled with every passion of existence.

DarkClaw is bathed in the essence of charisma.
DarkClaw is in perfect health.

You raise your eyebrow.

DarkClaw says, 'It sings!'.

DarkClaw says, 'I apologize. I heard myself in song and had to show off the button.'.
DarkClaw grins evilly.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I am honored that you heard, and sought to share, Lady.'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'were you going to ask something? Since I am a bard, if sometimes a mischievous one... '.

You say (in old-common), 'only this. What bard lives beyond sight?'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'All that have studied certain scrolls.'.

DarkClaw says, 'The bard invis is QUITE strong.'.

You frown. What's bothering you?

You say (in old-common), 'hrmph'.
You say (in old-common), 'are you here are you there?'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I am here. Sometimes I am there. Sometimes I am where I wish to be, and sometimes I am not. But at this moment - this, here - is where I am, and wish to be.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Will you be a muse to me? I still have much work'.

Someone blinks.
Someone says (in old-common), 'But do you not write of your family history?'.

Gwyrdain dips quill to ink.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I'm not sure how I could, in proper muse fashion, inspire such things.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Ur-hmm'.
You say (in old-common), 'No matter, perhaps the soft trickling of the fountain will suffice'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I could fetch fancy inks, from grumpy octopi beneath the sea.. Or chase ostriches about, plucking their feathers until they squawk...'.

You chuckle.
You cough.
You say (in old-common), 'Excuse me'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'tell me of what you write. I can ask uneducated questions, and perhaps it will spark further memory. If sparking memory is what you wish.'.

DarkClaw grins, envisioning that picture.

Someone grins mischievously at DarkClaw.
Someone winks at DarkClaw.

Belsambar says (in common), 'spark? Or....sparkle?'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Bels, NO!'.
Someone glares at Belsambar.

Belsambar stares at the sky.

Someone giggles.

DarkClaw groans loudly.
DarkClaw says, 'I do NOT wish to sparkle!'.

Belsambar says (in common), 'NO idea what you're talking about...'.

You blink.

Someone says (in old-common), 'You'll ruin his ink and scrolls... so don't you dare.'.

Belsambar chuckles, evidently amused.

Belsambar says (in common), 'I'll do it some other time when he doesn't have things out and about'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'See, Gwyrdain? There is your motivation.. if you stop... We are all doomed to sparkly horrific-ness. Write, man, write!'.

You raise your eyebrow.
You say (in old-common), 'Did I tell you my name, muse?'.
You frown. What's bothering you?

Someone hesitates. "No. You did not. But you are known."

You say (in old-common), 'Am I for this? I think I deliberate over much -- is it this word or that?'.

Gwyrdain closes one eye and looks to the ceiling with the other.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Are you for what? Conversation?'.

You say (in old-common), 'oh, sorry'.

Someone rises from the fountain's edge, fingers trailing one last time through the clear water.

You say (in old-common), 'No, no. The scrolls'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Ah. Well, they are a family history, yes?'.

You say (in old-common), 'er'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Tales of distant uncles, famed old warhorses.. and maiden aunts with huge warts upon their noses?'.

You say (in old-common), 'Not... exactly?'.

Someone giggles.

DarkClaw chuckles, evidently amused.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Surely there's a dreadful monster or two..?'.

You say (in old-common), 'I write what I must because if I do not these things will be lost'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Are they things that should not be lost? Some times prefer it that way.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Perhaps, but I think not.'.

DarkClaw says, 'There are those of us who have lost quite a bit throughout our lives.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Even in pain and loss He teaches us'.

Someone frowns.
Someone says (in old-common), 'now, if I was scolded for the thought of singing dirges... why should you write of them?'.

DarkClaw says, 'Those of us who walk a lost path, even.'.

You say (in old-common), 'I only refer to things 'preferred lost. I don't cross that bridge today. These tales inform our descendants. These tales inform ourselves'.

DarkClaw says, 'So you write of future history?'.

Someone thinks that maiden aunts with huge warts sounds far more cheery.

DarkClaw grins evilly at someone.

You frown. What's bothering you?

DarkClaw says, 'That sounds like another Oook song.'.

You say (in old-common), 'I write so that I may see a path marked down through the ages. A path whose end is Him'.

DarkClaw ponders what you are talking about.

You say (in old-common), 'It is easy to lose track of'.

Someone gets out a worn scrap of parchment, dark with ink traces, and a bedraggled quill.

DarkClaw says, 'Do you believe the same path should be sought after generation through generation?'.

You say (in old-common), 'believe?'.
You say (in old-common), 'should?'.

You frown. What's bothering you?

You say (in old-common), 'No. But there is a path therein woven. Whether desired or no. Sometimes it is plain to see. Sometimes not'.

DarkClaw says, 'But, just as the ground shifts with time, so do the paths.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Sometimes throughout the journey. Sometimes only at journey's end. Sometimes only to be see from another's vantage point...'.

Someone fills a water skin with water.

Someone scribbles a quick line or three.

You say (in old-common), 'We perceive some paths to shift'.
You say (in old-common), 'Surely that is so'.

Someone bows before DarkClaw.

DarkClaw beams a smile at someone.

Someone nods in recognition to you.

You say (in old-common), 'But there is a hand at work. Perhaps smaller hands may be allowed or even encouraged to meddle'.

Someone glances up from her writing to ask, 'Always? Is His hand in all things?'

DarkClaw says, 'Perhaps more than one hand.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Yes, in all things. Through care or disregard'.

Gwyrdain purses his lips.

Someone nods silently, falling silent.

Belsambar says (in common), 'apparently my Thoras is rusty at best'.

You say (in old-common), 'I've never heard such humble words'.
You poke him in the ribs.

Gwyrdain spends a minute alone with his parchment.

Someone echoes his movement, the quill flying across the page.

DarkClaw says, 'I'm going to take my leave and leave you to your writings. I apologize for interrupting.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Nice to see you, young DarkClaw'.

You bow before her.

Someone beams a smile at DarkClaw.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Thank you for showing him the button.'.

DarkClaw smiles happily.
DarkClaw says, 'Always a pleasure, Gwyrdain.'.

You wink suggestively at DarkClaw.

Someone says (in old-common), 'and for listening to my silly little song.'.

DarkClaw says, 'The song was not silly at all. I quite enjoyed it.'.

DarkClaw beams a smile at someone.

DarkClaw says, 'Be safe, both of you.'.

Someone bows formally, fingertips flicking in some complex gesture.

DarkClaw grins and bares her fangs. Tendrils of fog rise from the ground, twisting their way up and around her form to shroud it from view.

Someone continues writing, glancing up briefly as the priest enters.

Someone looks up from the scrap of parchment.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I've another....'.

You say (in old-common), 'Zounds'.

Someone indicates the scribbles, ink still wet.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Though it's a touch bawdy. Based on our aforementioned awful uncle and aunt.'.

Gwyrdain smirks wryly.

Someone asks, grinning a touch: "Do you dare to hear it?"

You say (in old-common), 'Please'.

Gwyrdain waves a hand to the table top.

Someone rises from the fountain's edge, and stands, leaning against the table.
Someone clears their throat.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Sitting here, I grumble at this awful pale expanse'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'Quill clutched within my fingers, pooling inkstains on my pants'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'With furrowed brow and clench of teeth, I hollar at my muse'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'And wonder why my epic tale seems more like strangest news -'.
Someone says (in old-common), '"It started back, before the war, with Uncle Mitchell May,'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'Who, despite his wooden teeth, was thought catch of the day'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'He'd squired all the ladies near - including some were wed'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'Always slipping out by dawn, and never caught in bed.'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'But Auntie Myrtle fixed her eyes on this unwilling prize'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'And so she took upon herself a most surprising guise'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'Knowing how young Mitchell loved to steal a kiss then flee'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'She dressed herself up as a horse, with short and knobby knees'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'She waited in the stable, having turned his steed to grass'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'And when he raced into the stall, he leapt up on her ... '.

Someone coughs.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Down they tumbled, all entwined, their limbs thrown all akimbo'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'Her mask came off, her hair fell down, she looked quite like a bimbo.'.
Someone says (in old-common), '"Oh, Sir!" she cried, "You have despoiled my reputation pure!"'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'And blinking, he responded quick, "Uh, are you really sure?"'.

Gwyrdain covers his mouth.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Sure that she had caught her prize, Aunt Myrtle she declared:'.
Someone says (in old-common), '"Of course I am, you rascal mine, my assets have you bared!"'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'The priest was called, the dress prepared, the formal banns were read'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'And on that summer morning, Uncle Mitchell's vows were said'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'So here's my warning, to you lads, that ever go a'woo'ing'.
Someone says (in old-common), 'Make sure the steed you wish to ride is one that's really moving!'.

Sparhawk throws back his head and cackles with insane glee!
Sparhawk shows his approval by clapping his hands together.

Gwyrdain laughs a hearty laugh.

You say (in old-common), 'Oh my'.

Someone snickers softly and rises from the perch on the table, returning to the fountain.

You say (in old-common), 'Bard you are not.'.

Someone frowns.
Someone says (in old-common), 'No?'.

You say (in old-common), 'Master Bard I name you'.

Someone shakes her head.

You say (in old-common), 'er.'.
You say (in old-common), '...'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'No. Only a bard.'.

You say (in old-common), 'No, I have been around a bit'.
You say (in old-common), 'given five minutes with a single phrase word picture...'.

Someone protests, 'It was more like twenty...'

You say (in old-common), 'But few are master enough'.

Someone smiles faintly. 'You never spent much time around Oook.'

Someone says (in old-common), 'His sacred Song of Power was written as he spoke it.'.

You say (in old-common), 'you are he, perhaps?'.

Someone chuckles, evidently amused.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I am not so skilled - though honored at the comparison -.. and not near as tall.'.

You say (in old-common), 'the voice's lilt is not quite would I would expect...'.
You say (in old-common), '... familiar ...'.

Gwyrdain mumbles a bit.

Someone frowns.

Someone says (in old-common), 'Is my accent off? Do I sound more like yip-speak than Thoras?'.

Sparhawk says (in common), 'No, your old-common is perfect'.

Someone says (in old-common), 'I learned it from a Giant, and his intonation could sometimes be odd.'.

Gwyrdain draws a rune at the bottom of the parchment and rolls it up.

Someone rises from the fountain's edge.
Someone says (in old-common), 'Thank you for being so kind an audience. I should be going.'.

You say (in old-common), 'Thank you for...'.
You say (in old-common), 'a smile.'.

Gwyrdain smiles (a little bit).

Someone bows formally, fingers flicking in some sort of complex gesture.

Someone leaves west.

You say (in old-common), 'Strange.'.

What Was Spoken On High - Log by Cordir

(concurrent with prior log)

Cordir: *hesitantly* Star..? Do you have a moment?

DarkClaw: Of course.

Cordir tells DarkClaw, '*quietly* I am taking the guise of a mortal bard...to perform a piece at Gwyrdain's request. You are mentioned in it. If you wish to hear, in silence... you are invited.'.

DarkClaw tells Cordir, 'Thank you. I would love to attend.'.

Cordir tells DarkClaw, 'He thinks me a mortal bard with a big invis. I'd like to keep it that way.'.

DarkClaw tells Cordir, '*nods* My presence is unknown to him.'.

Cordir tells DarkClaw, 'Thank you...'.
Cordir tells DarkClaw, '*bites her lip, glancing at the Nashite*'.

(Snip of First Performance)

DarkClaw tells Cordir, 'That was absolutely wonderful!'.

Cordir tells DarkClaw, ':)'.
Cordir tells DarkClaw, 'I'm glad you enjoyed it. . . it was surprisingly fun to write. I have not written since .. since Isolas left.'.

DarkClaw tells Cordir, 'So it is alright if I go vis as long as I don't give away your illusion?'.

Cordir tells DarkClaw, 'Yes.'.

DarkClaw tells Cordir, 'Thank you.'.

(Snip second performance)

Cordir: *quietly* .. I have not heard Gwyr laugh in five and a half thousand years.
Cordir: No. Closer to seven.

DarkClaw: *nod* I was rather surprised as well.

Cordir: *breaks into a smile of her own.*

DarkClaw: *tilts her head a bit with curiosity* Why do you lead him on to think you are just a faceless bard instead of who you really are?

Cordir: Because he does not see Cordir. He sees only a Goddess.

DarkClaw: *blinks, thinking those words through* And...you wish for him to see more of you?

Cordir: not just the Deity.

DarkClaw: You wish for him to see the dear friend that lies beneath.

Cordir: just .. me.

DarkClaw: Gwyrdain has always been one of the wise ones. Are you so certain that he does not see the real you?

Cordir: twice, no.
Cordir: Only the Incarna.

DarkClaw: *softly* Yet, because you are invis...he still does not see you.

DarkClaw: There are those who have no desire to see beyond the face of their Deity. Some even fear what they may find.

DarkClaw: I'm heading out for now. Have a good rest of the evening.

Cordir: take care, Star
