[Note 23] Grismal: Sale

Fri Oct 13 11:47:33 2000
To: all
I will be holding an auction on Tuesday, October 17, at 8 pm system time (11 pm EST). It will mostly be whatever spare gear I'm holding, mostly +3s in strength and dexterity, but possibly some damage as well. There's quite a lot of it, so don't be too worried about not seeing something you want.
There is a mix of leather and metal, but most of it is leather.

Your gaze settles upon a figure seemingly out of legend. A tall, heavily muscled warrior, he seems to glow with a holy light. Accoutered in various mismatched armor, several powerful artifacts emit waves of power. Noticing your stare, he turns towards you and removes his ornate helm. Cold blue eyes stare at you regally, and short-cropped brown hair is ruffled by the wind. His face is of one who has faced death many times, and is possessed of much wisdom. As he turns away, you feel strangely at ease, touched by something greater. Knight-Commander of the Order, Lieutenant General of the Tiger Guard [Retired]

Friendly and loyal to a fault, Grismal was an anchor for Good in the realm in the late 1990s. He was a cautious thinker and meticulous planner, always seeking out how to get better and improve his gear. One would think such a person was naturally selfish, but that wasn't at all the case with Grismal. For everything he worked hard to acquire, if it wasn't something he used himself, he would often simply give it away to others in need.
Grismal wasn't at all the hostile monster as some have portrayed him. He carried himself well and could even be accused of humility. His sword was reserved for those who had chosen to give him cause to battle, even at a time when he could have loosed a deadly fury upon the realm.
I learned much from him, and had chance to spend some time with him at a GT on the east coast. We even tried to pk Beelzebub from a pair of laptops in his parent's basement. Ah the memories. Good times.

Grismal was one of the most feared and respected PKers of late 2x and early 3x. He was a brilliant player, cautious, and dedicated to his friends. I can't remember any mistakes he made as a player - he was that good, and that careful. He came up with some ingenious ways to make money, and had a knack for getting the edge while trading. This resulted in a pretty extensive stash of gear. You always knew Grismal's bags were full, and he was always willing to make a deal. He wasn't greedy, he just enjoyed trading. He used that stockpile to re-gear many a Tiger and War Dancer. One of the defining blue players of his era.
