This continues the storyline of the Soul Stealer, Seraph, and his attempts to regain and exercise power within the world once more. ==02/01/2013: A Confrontation==

Temple of the Lost 
[Exits: west] 
Silence...almost deafening in this temple, the darkness all consuming within 
the seemingly hollow room. Suddenly, as if triggered by those present, a soft 
purple glow spreads from the center of the shrine. As eyes adjust to the 
change, the source of the dim lighting is revealed as a glass-shaped eye that 
hovers in mid-air above the smooth, marble floor. Smooth all except for a 
large, charred, square patch of dirt in front of each of the four walls...odd. 
Above, the ceiling is open showing more of the same darkness, not a single 
star twinkling among the Heavens. The Eastern wall is completely covered by a 
massive shelving unit holding books and old, faded scrolls, making one wonder 
as to the history of this place and the Immortal that it belongs to. What 
mysteries lie within those readings? A large mural hangs from the Southern 
wall, the color so vibrant that it makes the emptiness of the room seem barren 
and tragic. The strong feel of magic is noticeable in this temple, but its 
threads are chaotic...confused and constantly shifting. Symbolic of the 
Immortal that resides here? Perhaps. 
A large eye hovers in mid-air here, emitting a soft, purple glow.

Seraph steps out if the shadows. 
 
You say, 'Hello, Seraph.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'hello, DarkClaw'. 
 
Seraph says, 'how is your husband's spell coming?'. 
Seraph walks around the room looking at various items. 
 
You say, 'He is not my husband. And currently, it is not.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'oh'. 
 
DarkClaw scowls, watching you carefully. 
 
You say, 'I found out about it today and was furious, among other things.'. 
 
Seraph runs his fingers along the books. 
Seraph says, 'why?'. 
 
You say, 'Or, last night, rather.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'is it not what you want?'. 
 
You say, 'Because it is a fool's mission!'. 
You say, 'Even if it WOULD work, the backlash could kill him.'. 
 
Seraph pulls a book out and flips through the pages. 
Seraph says, 'then protect him from death'. 
 
You say, 'It is not as simple as that. Nor is it as simple as what I want.'. 
 
Seraph puts the book back not once looking at you. 
Seraph says, 'call upon your elements to protect him'. 
 
DarkClaw rakes her gaze over you slowly, looking for...changes. 
DarkClaw lets out a sharp laugh and rolls her eyes. "The elements are no more mine than they are anyone else's." 
 
You say, 'They answer to only those they choose to.'. 
 
Seraph looks at the mural on the wall. 
Seraph says, 'so why does he want me gone?'. 
 
DarkClaw leans against her altar, crossing her arms. "I should think you know the answer to that." 
 
Seraph runs his fingers along the mural. 
Seraph says, 'i do'. 
 
You say, 'Don't...touch that.'. 
 
Seraph turns and looks at you for the first time. 
 
You say, 'And if you know the answer, why waste my time with asking the question? What is it you REALLY want?'. 
 
Seraph says, 'if he wants me gone for what I am......'. 
Seraph turns back to the mural. 
Seraph says, 'then he should want you gone also'. 
Seraph says, 'kinda one sided isn't it?'. 
 
You say, 'He holds no love for you. That's not even an argument.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'that is true'. 
Seraph says, 'but you and I are no different vampire'. 
 
DarkClaw bites her lower lip, not wanting to voice too much. 
 
Seraph turns to you his hands folded in front of him. 
Seraph says, 'are we not similar?'. 
Seraph says, 'you feel on blood of mortals to survive and I feed on souls'. 
 
DarkClaw hesitates, remembering a recent conversation with a special bard. "We are different..though I will concede perhaps similar in some ways." 
 
Seraph says, 'we both feed on mortals that is no different'. 
Seraph says, 'yet I am the evil one'. 
Seraph laughs ever so soft. 
 
You say, 'Our methods are quite different. I choose not to harm those that I feed upon. I make no threats against others.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'really?'. 
Seraph says, 'as I recall you have in your mortal days'. 
Seraph says, 'you have tricked people'. 
 
DarkClaw whispers, "Perhaps then...when the hunger was new and unlearned." 
 
Seraph says, 'and draining their blood even a little is stealing their life'. 
Seraph walks slowly towards you looking at the floor. 
 
DarkClaw raises her gaze to yours, narrowed slightly. "The form of life I feed upon replenishes. Souls do not." 
 
Seraph removes his hood. His black eye-holes glow red. 
Seraph says, 'do people still go on and make choices after their soul is taken?'. 
 
Seraph pulls out Zarathos' soul gem from the air. 
 
DarkClaw growls and lunges towards you with an outstretched, clawed hand. 
 
Seraph looks at the gem and makes it vanish. 
 
Seraph grabs your hand throwing you to the side. 
Seraph says, 'i didn't come to fight DarkClaw'. 
Seraph says, 'besides, you know as well as I do, combat is not your style'. 
 
DarkClaw hisses and bounces back to her feet, grabbing ahold of your cloak and digging her claws into you. "That soul belongs to ZARATHOS, not you." 
 
You say, 'It is for those I love.'. 
 
Seraph pushes you away. 
Seraph grabs his mace but then lets go of it. 
Seraph says, 'DO YOU WANT COMBAT DARKCLAW?'. 
 
You say, 'If you did not come to fight, then you should not have teased my anger with his soul.'. 
You say, 'You KNEW the reaction that would get.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'there is a point to showing you '. 
Seraph says, 'now put your claws away before...... well you know'. 
 
Seraph folds his hands in front of him again and walks around. 
Seraph says, 'i have Zarathos soul but - he how do I say it'. 
 
DarkClaw raises a brow, fully shifting her cat claws back to her human hands. "You make yourself at home in my temple, then do a gesture like that, yet you expect me to be NICE?" 
 
Seraph says, 'still roams the realm'. 
Seraph says, 'as I stated I did not come to fight'. 
Seraph says, 'zarathos is fine and we are no different'. 
Seraph says, 'you were created out of violence and mistrust as was I'. 
Seraph says, 'yet your chosen seeks to destroy me'. 
 
DarkClaw's eyes flash brilliantly. "My Chosen seeks to protect the realm." 
DarkClaw grumbles, "I fear he is more good sometimes than evil." 
 
Seraph says, 'then he should kill us both'. 
Seraph turns and within a blink of a eye has his wings wrapped around you. 
 
DarkClaw nods, ever so faintly, her gaze shifting downwards, "Perhaps you're right." 
 
Seraph whispers in your ear, "We are the same. We crave mortals." 
 
DarkClaw growls and fights to get free of your "embrace," claws coming out again and tearing at your wings. 
 
You say, 'DO NOT touch me!'. 
 
Seraph grips your tighter and whispers, "If he kills me, he kills you." 
 
You say, 'You know nothing of MY cravings.'. 
 
Seraph lets you go. 
Seraph says, 'I DO'. 
Seraph says, 'WITHOUT FEEDING WE GROW WEAK WE LOSE CONTROL'. 
Seraph says, 'IT TAKES OVER'. 
Seraph gathers himself. 
 
DarkClaw stumbles backwards, glaring at you, shifting into a ready stance. "You have not changed, as Sami said you have." 
 
Seraph says, 'have I harmed you?'. 
Seraph looks at the claw marks on him. 
Seraph says, 'it seems you have attacked not i'. 
 
DarkClaw grits her teeth and fists her hands, her eyes flashing dangerously. "Get out." 
 
Seraph nods in recognition to you. 
Seraph says, 'think about what I said DarkClaw we are no different'. 
 
Seraph steps into the shadows. 
 
DarkClaw hisses. 
DarkClaw moves over to the bookshelves and grips the edge of one, hurling it away from the wall and letting out a growl.

Zarathos ftells, 'come to me'. 
 
A Quiet Campfire

A clear mountain spring looks refreshing.

(Light Blue Aura) (White Aura) A wizened old elf sits here, warming himself at the fire. 
 
Seraph says, 'hello DarkClaw'. 
 
You raise your eyebrow at him. 
 
Seraph says, 'zarathos I have a question for you'. 
 
Zarathos nods. 
 
DarkClaw starts, backing away a bit before catching herself, "Seraph..." 
 
Seraph says, 'since I have your soul do you feel any different?'. 
 
Zarathos sits down and thinks deeply. 
 
Seraph says, 'yet again, DarkClaw, I have not come to fight'. 
 
Zarathos says (in common), 'Yes, I was much younger when you took it'. 
 
Seraph nods. 
 
Zarathos says (in common), 'I've felt the loss since that day'. 
 
Seraph says, 'so age is a problem?'. 
 
Zarathos shakes his head. 
Zarathos says (in common), 'I've done my best to move forward, despite the loss'. 
 
Lightning flashes in the sky. 
 
Seraph pulls zarathos' soul from the air and tosses at his feet. 
 
Seraph steps back into the shadows. 
 
Zarathos gathers his soul, energized. 
Zarathos says (in common), 'Finally'. 
Zarathos says (in common), 'That empty feeling is gone'. 
Zarathos says (in common), 'I am whole'. 
Zarathos grins evilly. 
 
DarkClaw blinks, lips parted and features twisted in confusion. 
 
Zarathos says (in common), 'I'm not sure myself, but I'm glad of it'. 
 
You say, 'That...was unexpected.'. 
 
Zarathos nods in recognition to you. 
 
DarkClaw frowns, "Is it undamaged?" 
 
Zarathos says (in common), 'It's been so long, I can't be sure'.

DarkClaw nods distractedly. "We shall have to take note of any differences you might experience" 
 
You say, 'I...am leery to trust him...in anything.'. 
 
Zarathos nods in recognition to you. 
 
DarkClaw smiles suddenly, moving closer and seeming to examine you. "But I am relieved nonetheless." 
 
Zarathos grins evilly.

You say, 'Though he did gather others'.'.

Seraph says, 'they are powerful now no need to let people live'.

You say, 'That was long ago, Seraph. We have both...changed.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'when I started to take my place among the gods I help protect your people'. 
Seraph says, 'do you forget these things'.

DarkClaw blinks and winces slightly, lowering her gaze. "I have not forgotten...but those were different people...and a different time."

DarkClaw flinches and draws back, her gaze narrowed. "What would you ask in return?

DarkClaw sneers and steps further back. "I knew there would be a price." 
 
Seraph says, 'let him play with his spell'. 
Seraph says, 'nothing more'. 
Seraph says, 'and I will protect his soul'. 
 
DarkClaw shakes her head quickly, "I cannot do that." 
 
Seraph says, 'you can '. 
Seraph says, 'such a small price for your loved one'. 
 
You say, 'I am not even sure that you PROTECTED Zarathos' soul. How do you expect me to take your word on the soul that belongs to the man I love?"'. 
 
Seraph says, 'look into his eyes, DarkClaw, Zarathos is fine'. 
 
Seraph shrugs his shoulders and starts walking to the shadows.

This hallway must have been built by giants! It is huge! Then 
again, there are more than a few giants that belong to The Guild, so 
it may just be so. There are doors to your left and right leading to 
other places in the guild designed to serve the needs of all 
adventurers. A stairway leads down to a hallway below.

You say, 'You are an immortal. Nothing is "simple" with immortals. We both know this.'. 
 
Seraph says, 'no we make it hard when things are easy'. 
 
You say, 'Yes, but we have our reasons.'. 
 
Seraph looks around at various things. 
 
DarkClaw flicks her gaze to her altar and murmurs, "We...see things." 
 
Seraph says, 'well Darkclaw we have spent many many moons together'. 
Seraph says, 'and you know i am a man of his word'. 
Seraph says, 'so its simple '. 
 
DarkClaw lets out a pained sigh, leaning back against the wall, looking...tired. "I do not want to fight, either, as you said yesterday...BUT..." 
 
You say, 'Surely you understand my dilemna...and that I have to protect what seeks my protection."'. 
 
Seraph looks at you tilting his head. 
Seraph says, 'have you not feed?'. 
Seraph says, 'and i do understand your dilemma'. 
Seraph says, 'thats why i offer my help'. 
 
DarkClaw scowls, "It is no concern of yours when I feed or don't feed."
