10/05/96 13:45pm: Our disk finally died, and has been replaced. Wayne <br />
from Primenet reports that we should now be stable. The "old" player <br />
files have been installed from the newest backup (Sunday morning, <br />
9/29/96). Equipment and experience lost as a result of the player file<br />
restoration will _not_ be reimbursed. If you find this intolerable and/or<br />
unreasonable, then consider that there was a great number of people<br />
affected by the crash, so experience point adjustment is not feasable,<br />
and it is our policy not to reimburse equipment. If reason doesn't do<br />
anything for you, then please consider that you still _have_ a character,<br />
and that the backups were reasonably current. This could have been a<br />
LOT worse. Most characters created during Saturday and Sunday<br />
of last week probably didn't make it. Per my notes, characters created<br />
during this past week were temporary, pending replacement of the hard<br />
drive. These characters will be purged. I am no longer taking<br />
entries for the contest announced on tfc-announce. I will work on<br />
tallying contest results once the old player files are restored. Thanks<br />
for your patience, folks. It's been one heck of a week. :-) --Tynian.<br />
