	Samiyah woke on the floor of the Hall, her body wracked with chills, all the warmth drawn from it by the cold stones. Her knees were twin points of agony, having knelt for hours, waiting for Seraph to speak. He had simply sat in silence upon His throne, watching her, fingers tapping on the throne's arm, the weight of His disapproval like stones upon her back, pressing her face to the floor. No amount of rifting or shouting could have more clearly underscored that she had disappointed Him yet again with her unruly behavior. A spreading puddle of reeking piss nearby showed that Odie had lifted a leg to express his amusement with her disfavor. She hobbled clumsily over to the massive hearth, desperately seeking the comfort and healing of its warmth, but the roaring fire could not penetrate her aching bones and muscles. Images of the previous day flashed through her mind as she stared into the flames: confessing her wrong thinking to Ghazkull.. hearing of DarkClaw's perfidious actions.. her own worry that perhaps her curiosity about kissing might lead her down the same path of behavior DarkClaw had followed.. her revulsion and fear of Venom.. the bout of tears outside the Coral Cave.. the painstakingly crafted words torn into pieces.. and the shoes. She stared down at her dusty feet, blushing at her own bad behavior. It was the most mortal insult one could give and Wish was right to be enraged. No matter how deeply her heart hurt at realizing that he had tricked her, lied to her, and treated her like the ignorant desert girl he had called her so many times, it was wrong. He was NOT a friend, no matter how much she wanted him to be... but it was still wrong. She should not have done it. 	Standing before the Veil, sand shifting beneath her feet, she stared up into its howling, swirling chaos, as she had done so many times. She leaned into the wind, its strength supporting her weight completely, pushing, resisting, and forbidding her from going further. The gale tore the sounds from her mouth as soon as she screamed them, as she had so many times before: "I WANT TO GO HOME!!" Sobbing, miserable, she curled up in the lee of a large rock and slept, her hand cupped over a word she had repeatedly scratched into the gray surface over the course of her visits: "Bayt" - "Home." Seraph’s words from the day prior spun in her mind, echoing over and over: The desert was a small place, enclosed, stagnant. No longer their home. She had to change and grow to meet this new world. Each thought was met by an equally forceful, instinctive refusal within her. Home was safety. Home was understanding expectations. Home was where no one laughed at her words or thought to give unwelcome touch, or broke sacred vows. She refused to acknowledge even in her own mind that it was also a place where she, herself, by her bardic magic, was forbidden, focusing only on the comforting cocoon of its familiarity. Eventually, her tears ran out. Exhausted, she sang a soft lullaby her aunt used to sing about baby goats being brought safely to shelter, just to give herself comfort, her voice rough from the tears. Such was her weariness that she did not note the shift in the Veil above her, a drop in its howling pitch as she murmured each verse. He mumbled to himself as he shuffled through the sands, distracted by his own thoughts, aware of his surroundings only subconsciously. Samiyah the sand-goat had consumed his focus once again. The meddler had been a constant thorn in his side since she had released Sycora from his charm-butcher spell. Now she must be made to suffer for her intrusion, or perhaps even be sent on a fool’s errand while bigger plans were hatched. Reaching the top of the sand dune, Venom cupped his eyes with both hands to block the wind and sun, peering into the distant desert as far as the waves of heat would allow. Scanning to the east where he last saw the magical barrier of swirling sands, he saw what he had come for. Many times he had been down this trail, investigating the strange and arcane magics that separate this realm from the homeland of the whore, Sabella, and the meddler, Samiyah.
