Although the individual tasks of Katrana's Trial of Triat Mastery were not as complex or soul-killing as some others, she approached each with a level of focus that was remarkable. At the end of her quest, she provided a 64 page document detailing each and every step along the way.

Trials for the Wyrm:

1.) Cordir says (in old-common), 'firstly... Make all arrangements necessary for your wedding to Solaron'.

Task #1: Obtain the consent of a God+. [ 11] Katrana: A mortal seeks consent from the highest gods of the Realm
Sat Aug 17 16:09:44 2002
To: god Cordir
(deep curtsey) Greetings immortals, I am sorry to bother you of your time, but I am seeking approval, from those of a power greater than my own deity. Seeking approval of what you might ask...Well to marry my beloved Solaron. Before I took upon the task of being a Triat Initiate, Solaron and I asked the Lady for her blessings in such. We then both looked to the Triat, and were given a Triat Mastery quest. Part of this quest, holds a wedding quest from my Lady, all of which as been completed except for this part. *looks to you and smiles* Please let me know via note or tell, if the gods are in approval of this marriage taking place.
My deepest thanks to you all,
Katrana K'Veeran, Triat Acolyte, Blade of Fate, Wyld Handmaiden, and Shaman Adept of Fate

[ 18] Tamar: RE: A mortal seeks consent from the highest gods of the Realm
Wed Aug 21 12:49:34 2002
To: Katrana Cordir
If your goddess also consents, you and Solaron have my approval to marry.
Tamar, Goddess of Serenity,
Mistress of her own Dreams

Task #2: Write a ceremony and select wedding party members and one to officiate.
The Wedding Ceremony of Solaron & Katrana

Task #3: Obtain appropriate garb for the ceremony.
I agreed on the clothes you have Lady (collecting the 3 chr), and the clothes that Noctus donated for RP wedding ceremonies.

Task #4: Select a gift for each of the primary members of your wedding party (best man / maid of honor) and present it to them around or about the time of the wedding.
None in the party

Task #5: Fill at least one egg casing with flowers that are red or black in color.
This is all I could fit in one
A disgusting egg casing appears to be sturdy enough to hold items.
When you look inside, you see:
An egg casing contains:
( 5) a dozen long-stemmed red roses
( 5) a black lily
( 5) a black rose
( 6) a black orchid
( 4) a red tulip

Task #6: Write of at minimum three reasons each why I should not permit you to wed. Think long and hard on those detriments of your vows you may not yet have considered. (These can be in or out of char reasons).
Reasons Katrana and Solaron Should NOT Wed

Task #7: a) Learn of three couples who have been wed in the past and are still bound, and speak to them of their union. Summarize their views on how to sustain such a union, and how you both feel you can do so.

  • Lania and Solantha – Lania first spoke to me about how long her and Solanthas have been together, she said it has been about 5 years. Quite a long time in mud years… She said part of the reason they have been together so long is that they hold the same interests, so they always have things to speak about. Even with him being an immortal, they still try to do as much as they can together. She admitted that it was awkward getting used to him being an immortal, as sometimes she would have to be put to the side, as immortal legislation comes first. Lania also said that when it comes to immortal/follwer relations (she is in his following) that she is treated equally, and she likes that. She said that she would never want to be the reason that people were upset within Solanthas’ following. Her advice to keeping a marriage together is “not to take things too hard.” Remember that they are a person just like you, and have other things that need to be taken care of.
  • Aoife and Whitehawk – Aoife herself is happily married to Whitehawk, she says, ‘it’s good fun.’ She, like Lania, spoke to me on what it was like being married to an immortal. She said that she does not get to see him as much as she would like (as Whitehawk is not seen much these days.) She also said that being married to him as an immortal is just like when he was a mortal. She says that they work on spending quality time together, making time for one another, because of the other’s schedule they must work together to spend time with one another. She said that her advice is to remember to work out problems, not to fight or argue, but to speak with one another.
  • Noctus and Tranquility – Noctus loves being married, and would not change a moment of it. His views on sustaining such a relationship are…being willing to give a little and take a little. You must learn that the world is not centered on you, that you have a partner, and need to learn to share your views and time with him or her. He also says to be honest with one another and yourself, if you lie to yourself, then you lie to your partner. Also, learn to admit your mistakes. (My response to him: I’m already perfect, so that is easy) His last piece of advice was to be willing to invest in the relationship. Not to just take, and expect all to be perfect.

b) Learn of three couples who have been wed in the past, and have dissolved their union... and how you can learn from their mistakes.

  • Faille and Zakath – Faille explained that both her and Zakath became busy with RL. She moved a lot during their relationship, and was not logged on much. Both her and Zakath became bored with Adventure (Zarous), and started playing actively with other chars. When Faille and Zakath both played again, Zakath had moved on, and left Faille feeling betrayed. Her advice is to not play so many chars you lose track of those that have relationships.
  • Natilena and Zakath – In her words “times changed, my children faded and so did he.” The transition from 2x to 3x, her children and her husband lost their comfort in 2x and did not like the 3x transition, and faded away…they all slowly stopped playing. Her advice is to cherish the moments good and bad, and to try to be there for one another. And learn to adapt to changes.
  • Elfis and Sheyralle – Elfis basically had no more desire to mud any longer. Thus the reason him and Sheyralle fell apart. He lost the interest, the spark to play. He admits that this is his fault. He feels that if he would have had the interest to play, that it would have been a different story, they would have still been together. Lesson Learned: Do not wear yourself out on this, it is a game, and can be overdone.

2.) Cordir says (in old-common), 'Second, add to the stores of knowledge of the Chosen by crafting DETAILED maps of Cannibal Island, the Black Manor, and the entirety of Molotov island including the Volcano.

Cannibal Island
Black Manor
Molotov Island
The Volcano

3.) Cordir says (in old-common), 'Third, perform an act of service - needfully of great personal risk - for a friend, an enemy and a stranger.'.

  • Friend – I aided DarkClaw in the killing of a mob who was chasing her, the mob was the Spider Statue of Vela.
  • Enemy – I helped Mordith kill Scairez.
  • Stranger – Amastacia was dying with a ghost on her, her life was being drained, I haunted myself, and took the ghost away and killed it.

4.) Cordir says (in old-common), 'Fourth, interview three plus three FLIs (current, retired, or deleted) and ask them to share with you what hard won lessons they gained in the span of their service.'.
Immortal Thoughts About Immortality

Trials for the Wyld:

Cordir says (in old-common), 'Katrana, you are bid dance the measures of death. You are bid slay the following creatures and provide proof of doing so: The Spider Statue of Velalasier. The Evil one of Lost Altibia. And a Dragon of your choosing from the Tower.

Katrana Vs The Spider Statue of Velalasier
Katrana Vs The Ancient Blue Dragon

Cordir says (in old-common), 'As the final measure of the 'dance' of your Triat mastery... You will engage in one on one combat... to YOUR death... at the hands of a creature I designate. You will not be informed as to the creature's identity until such time as all other elements are complete..
Katrana's Combat With Scar

Trials for the Weaver:

Cordir says (in old-common), 'The Weaver demands sacrifice of you, Katrana... Perseverance through anguish. Adherance to duty for the forging of the soul.'. Katrana, the Weaver demands sacrifices from your hand, your heart, and your very nature.

Cordir says (in old-common), 'First... a sacrifice of the hand. At the commencement of this quest, you will sacrifice up three objects. They must be those that you treasure most dearly. Two may be of your own choosing. The Third is of mine: Your scissors.'.

  • Katrana gave up her 3dam on body.
  • Katrana gave up her –5svs gloves.

Cordir says (in old-common), 'Lay aside the tender words you would speak to Solaron. No speach of ANY kind (on any channel) may be uttered to him for the duration of your mastery quest NOR may you receive aid of any kind from him during your Trial.'

  • Katrana swore that she had no speech and no assistance.

Cordir says (in old-common), 'Lastly, a sacrifice from your very nature. The essence of your spirit is that of the Shamaness. It is very traditional that part of the Weaver's sacrifice make the other tasks... harder. Thus, I forbid you utilize the spell you treasure most... Not the rift that some suggested... but your Exclude.'

  • Katrana swore that she did not use her Exclude during the quest.
