Reading the Threads

Within The Tapestry of Fate
[Exits: north up]
You find yourself standing beneath countless stars... no, not stars, but strands of light, their incandescent glow pushing back the darkness that would otherwise overcome you.
You stand on a circular cathedra of dusky marble striated with silvery gray. Four titanic, equidistantly spaced archways of albescent jade yearn upward towards the lights above you. Sable fires seethe within three of them, a spider-web filling the fourth. In the center of the rostrum stands an intricately carved wooden loom. It is cool here, like the first misty chill of twilight, and you shiver slightly, hair prickling on the back of your neck as you realize: Perhaps this is no place for a mortal to be.
( 8) A delicious magic mushroom is here.
A massive obsidian sculpture of a spider dominates the chamber.
The Loom of the Weaver is here, coruscating with an unearthly radiance.
(Light Cyan Aura) Rigel is here.
Cyprali is here.
Ravyn is here.

Cordir says, 'I'm sorry for the delay...'.
Cordir says, 'Hello, Ravyn and Cyprali'.

Ravyn says (in common), 'Greetings'.
Ravyn curtseys gracefully.

Cyprali says (in common), 'There is, of course, no problem.'.
Cyprali snickers softly.

Cordir says, 'How may I assist you?'.

Ravyn says (in common), 'Me?'.

Cordir nods.

Ravyn says (in common), 'Just the same as we spoke before.'.

Cordir pauses a moment and thinks.

Ravyn says (in common), 'Simply... searching for answers.'.

Cordir says, 'Yes, you wanted to know of the Gryphon's thread....'.
Cordir pauses a moment and thinks.
Cordir seats herself at the loom, allowing her fingertips to drift over the many colored threads.
Cordir frowns, and looks deeper.

Rigel leaves north.

A gleaming Silvery-Blue thread shimmers into your awareness.

An image of a strong, god-touched warrior appears...

He goes forth to battle evil wherever it may be found..

The Great White Shark within the depths of the Ocean...

The Evil One within sunken Altibia....

The minions of evil who would sweep over the land....

Yet, this warrior has gentleness as well... his lips curved in humor.

... and love.... his eyes reflect the image of a slight, strawberry-haired woman.

Together, they are strong in love and in faith, both serving Coleman for a time...

Then, they depart the Lord of Mirth, and found their own holy place...

A cathedral of glittering white and silver...

...and a Fellowship is born...

Later, a child... destined to become a Paladin...

And later still ... another... a daughter ... a seeress and learned scholar...

So spins the threads of the Gryphon....

The images fade from your conciousness.

Cordir blinks, and removes her hands from the loom.
Cordir turns to Ravyn.
Cordir says, 'Was that what you were seeking?'.

Ravyn opens her mouth to speak, but no sound comes out.

Cordir remains seated, the reading of the Threads obviously draining on her.

Ravyn gazes into the Lady's eyes, tears slowly rolling down her cheeks.
Ravyn whispers, 'Thank you, Lady Cordir.'

Cordir smiles happily.
Cordir says, 'Gladly, Ravyn...'.
Cordir says, 'It is both my duty and priviledge to Read the Pattern when I am asked.'.

Ravyn says (in common), 'The woman and the destined Paladin... were there names as well?'.

Cordir shakes her head.
Cordir says, 'Nay, I was not examining their threads'.
Cordir says, 'Only their sire's.'.

Ravyn nods.
Ravyn says (in common), 'Thank you, Lady Cordir.'.

Cordir says, 'But I remember their son's name was Wren.'.
Cordir says, 'He was Paladin to the Silver Fellowship.'.

Cordir shakes her head sadly, remembering.

Cordir says, 'But he failed in his duties.'.
Cordir says, 'And he did not represent his father and mother well.'.

Ravyn raises her head again.
Ravyn says (in common), 'What did he do? How did he fail?'.

Cordir says, 'Let us hope that the daughter does better... Though I never met her. He took up that holy oath.. And then... left. Binding his father's choice. Gryphon was unable to name another as Paladin... And his Son simply ... left the Realm.'.

Ravyn nods.

Cordir says, 'After months of pleading for the priviledge of Ordainment... He abandoned the following.'.

Ravyn says (in common), 'And the daughter? What of her?'.

Cordir pauses a moment in thought, trying to remember.

Cordir says, 'Gryphon and Kestrel did not have a daughter when I was of the Silver Fellowship... They both departed these lands a long time ago ...Traveling ... elsewhere. I do not know her.'.

Ravyn nods.
Ravyn pulls her hood back, letting her long blonde hair flow down over her shoulders.

Cordir blinks.

Ravyn says (in common), 'The hood keeps me quite warm.'.
Ravyn says (in common), 'Too warm at times.'.

Cordir tilts her head to one side, examining Ravyn.
Cordir says, 'You're quite familiar...'.

Ravyn says (in common), 'I am?'.

Cordir says, 'Though I know we have not met before.'.

Ravyn says (in common), 'Don't be silly! We met last night.'.

Cordir nods.
Cordir says, 'I know that..'.
Cordir says, 'I meant...previously.'.

Ravyn says (in common), 'I don't know why..'.
Ravyn says (in common), 'I'm a stranger to this realm.'.

Cordir pauses a moment and thinks.

Cordir says, 'You remind me of someone.'.
Cordir says, 'I'm just not sure whom.'.

Cordir pauses a moment and thinks.
