Current Description:

A tall man stands here, with a hand on the hilt of his weapon. His
clothes are a dark grayish green that fades into leaf or shadow, and
his cloak swirls through shades of gray and green and brown as it shifts
in the wind. It seems to almost disappear at times, that cloak,
fading into whatever lay beyond it. His hair is dark and long,
up to his shoulders, held back from his face by a narrow leather headband.
His face has a weathered look, yet it is still unlined.

As he moves away from you, you think of nothing but a wolf.

Ramza shows little sign of injury.

Character History:

For as long as I can remember, we have been orphans, my brother Morimox and I. I cannot even remember the faces of my mother and father, actually, who both had passed on as result of some plague. The only heirloom left to us was the name 'Beoluve.' As children, we would stalk the caves, stealing the baker's pies - the best pies in the land, mind you -, snatching a purse here and there, and generally causing mischief. The guards always did threaten us by showing us the entrance to the minotaur prisons and those poor souls inside. Only once were we shown the inside, and that was when Mori thought it would be amusing to douse the mayor's dogs with flour and tell the younger children that they were 'ghost dogs.'

Mori....he was always getting into trouble..and usually dragged me down with him. And I as the older brother did my best to watch over him.

We spent our childhood with Borin, the fatherly Cleric guildmaster, who would house orphans like us at his home in Kuroth. As I grew older, I became restless and I had a desire to see the world. On an impulse, I decided to become a recruit in the Kurothian army to help me do just that. Along with my brother, we learned the basics of soldiering, and did our tour of duty fighting along the front lines against the minotaurs of War'loov. You gain a lot of experience quickly when you're facing an 8 foot tall beast who's looking to gore you with his horns....or slice you up the middle with a huge broadsword. So many stories to tell about those days of our youth, but that is for another time...

Upon my return, I went to visit Borin, who had always been a father to us. After hearing much wisdom from the old man, I chose to follow in his footsteps and began to learn the cleric's way of life. Morimox, however, chose the arcane and began his studies in the magely arts, having had a taste of power when we faced minotaurs in War'loov. Apparently, he had been in the guard of Carthales, and had seen some of the great General's magely powers in battle. I must say I was somewhat concerned with his decision to learn magic as I had heard stories of mages consumed with their quest for power. But we followed our chosen paths, and were sent on many adventures by both the Kurothian Army as well as our respective teachers.

We learned, and we progressed, and true to my wishes as a youth, we saw the world. The mountains near Kuroth, the Tiber River, the snowy trails of Gla-Shorn, the Molotov volcano, the Valley of Mist, the Great Eastern Desert, even the home of the monstrous ogres, Skulltop; many more we have traveled to and experienced in our adventures. And we were content, although I had a growing feeling that..something...was missing...

One night while we were camping out near the Tiber on a scouting mission, I had a strange dream. I had come across a huge oaken door in the middle of a thickly wooded forest, ornately carved and with no hinges. On each side of the massive door stood a figure, one clad in white as pure as heavenly light and the other in black so deep it seemed to be feeding on the surrounding darkness. They opened the door as I approached, and I was blasted by a big gust of...wind? I suppose it could be called wind. But within the doorway stood a figure, and behind him on a pedestal stood a measuring scale made of bronze...i think you would call it a 'balance'. White and Black crumpled to the floor, leaving no signs of their existence except the cloth they were wearing. The figure approached, and I could not see his face clearly, but he seemed to be wearing plain brown clothing. Yet, I was awe struck at this seemingly mundane figure. He said to me, "Welcome Ramza. It is time."....and then I woke up.

Mori was shaking himself off, apparently having awoken abruptly. I looked at his eyes, and it was obvious to me that we had the same dreams. I nodded to him, and said, "We have to go." With a silent nod, we began our search for the figure we saw in our dreams. After looking high and low, finally we were sitting and resting on the broken pillars of an old temple, a bit discouraged but determined to go on.

"Welcome Ramza, Morimox. So, how do you like my temple?" And that was how we found Tokugawa, Lord of Balance. From him and fellow followers such as Werqwram the devout, Pardoquilian the adopted Beoluve, Alyria and Rath the lovers, we learned the meaning of balance and neutrality, and how exactly the world works. Good and evil will always exist in the world; one cannot defeat the other without losing a part of itself. The world would be destroyed in such an event, and thus balance must be maintained so that neither side would be in such a position. It was during these times that we flourished, Morimox and I. Trips to Master's Tower to obtain the Master's treasures, facing the Dragon Turtle and his acid breath, infiltrating the Dark Manor of Nashite to discover their covert plans - these are some of the stories I have to tell, but again...they are stories in and of themselves and will not be told here.

We were content in our fellowship...until that day. In a divine mandate, our Lord Tokugawa had ascended to another plane. And so, Mori and I were left fatherless once again. During this time, evil had come to the world...an evil so strong and pure yet so united that it was hard to resist. The Nashites ruled the land, persecuting all those who stood in their way. Those who had followed the Immortals of good either hid to fight another day, or attempted a brazen (and hopeless some said) stand against the rising tide. Our souls were weak, and our lessons of neutrality forgotten. Bitter and cold we had become, Mori and I, as we aimlessly roamed the forests. The world had become uninviting and starved of virtue, and we followed suit. Surrounded by Nashites, and hearing the name of Nash proclaimed at nearly every edge of the world, we succumbed to the lure of promises of power and glory. We had joined the cult of the Cauldron of Pain.

If I say that those years were difficult, I would be lying but perhaps there is a bit of truth in there also. Living in a world where evil was accepted and even normal cannot be said difficult...unless your soul was screaming at you that things were not right. But that did not come until later. Under the Nashite banner, we became adept in deceit, stealth, destruction. Men died and cities fell. Deeper and deeper I sank into the evil and was surrounded by it, but despite all that, I could not force myself to do as others do. Stealing from non-Nashites was right, murdering them was better. I could not make myself perform such tasks. And so, I became little more than an initiate in the clerical ranks of the Nashite army.

Years passed, and the cult following of Pain was destroyed, as its Immortal head had fallen from divine graces. This did nothing to slow the rising of the Nashites as most of our comrades proceeded to join the Black Conclave of Nashite. Those who did not were hunted down, captured, tortured, and executed. Following our comrades, as it had become something we had become accustomed to, we became members of the Black Conclave. I remember my meeting with the Arch Lich. It is not something want to remember, and I will speak nothing more of it.

During this time, my soul grew old and weary. The world was dying, and I could care less. My soul itself was dying with it. But for love of my brother, I continued to push forward and stayed. He grew very quickly, Mori did. He had reached the pinnacle: a brilliant sorcerer, even dabbling in the arts of necromancy, a savage warlord, and a master assassin. But despite all that, I could see that he also felt that things were 'unright.'

I came back one night from a routine inquisition mission in the Northern Lands. Looking for my brother, as I was accustomed to do, I came up empty handed. Not thinking anything of it at the time, I went to wash the filth from my soul and went to rest my weary body.

The next day, I awoke and stumbled, bleary eyed, to my wash sink. Suddenly, my cold room became very warm, and an intense, bright blue light filled the area. Shocked and half dressed, I scrambled for my mace. As I wielded it ready to fend off whatever creature or spirit had gotten loose into my room, I turned around to see....a being bathed in a radiant blue light. He was wearing a simple, grey robe and a intricately carved amulet on a silver chain around his neck. At first, I could not see his face....but the light gradually became dimmer and it was clear.

"Hello, brother. I've gotten quite important since you've last seen me it seems." And he smirked his Mori-like smirk, the same one he used to give me when we were eating the Kurothian baker's pies sitting in a nook behind the bakery when we were children. He said he had taken leave to go search for something that he did not know, but was called to. Upon this journey, he had seen dragons, he told me - good dragons that had the power to cleanse the world of the evil. He had become a vessel for these immortal beings, and the Dragon's Spirit resided within him, making him immortal himself.

With that said, I felt that I had no power left in my body or soul. My job was complete as I saw it, and I was finished being an older brother. My little brother had become a God! The world had changed so much from what I remembered, and I had little strength left in me to fight on. I asked my brother, the Dragon's Spirit, to give me rest from the evil, from the pollution and decay around me. He nodded, looked at me, and smirked his smirk. Mori always knew what I was thinking even before I said it. An intense glow filled the room, and I remember nothing more...

I woke up in a glade and the world had changed. The sky was no longer the red it had been when I left it. Trees and flowers filled the glade. Birds and bees flew in the air. It is a time for new beginnings and changes, I suppose...and perhaps I will become part of those changes. I don't know why I have awakened; perhaps my brother intended for me to have some new purpose. But what purpose does an old soul have in this grand new world? Time will tell that story....and add another one to my list of adventures. As for now, I will write down my life's history, at the request of the Lady Cordir, to preserve the legacy of the Beoluve brothers so our story will not be lost in the annals of time...

Geasa:

  1. I will cure any and all who need it regardles of station and rank, unless they are Anathema or otherwise stated by the Lady Cordir.
  2. I will see that my aging father Borin is taken care of and thus will provide him with food - in the form of two pies - every chance I get (once per login).
  3. I will seek out old comrades of Balance, and those of my brother's following and assist them in whatever manner possible and seeing to their growth as individuals in the realm.
