Current Description:

The tall, slender, form of the half-elf before you has the grace of a dancer as he turns to face you. The silky, thick mass of his dark auburn hair slips over one shoulder, a single braid within its flowing length. Half-hidden, a pristine feather from a golden eagle dangles in his hair, bound to the end of his braid. He folds his arms over his chest, deliberately moving them a short distance from the silver sabers that hang at each hip. Twin marks of his given loyalty are revealed on the backs of his hands: a measuring scale in perfect Balance upon his right, and a roaring Tiger upon his left. His greatest loyalty, however, is that in his heart, given to his beloved, the lady Rhyki. Almost like a ghost, her presence is with him always, in his heart and mind.

His lavender eyes, tilted in an elven slant, gaze back at you, unblinking and boldly contrasting to the golden glow of his suntanned skin. If, as the tales say, the eyes are the mirrors to the soul, these show an elf of patient wisdom, kindness, and concern for those around him, but without the arrogance of many of his kind. His demeanor is open, friendly, even humble. He has the active energy and vitality of one who spends much time out of doors, exploring this realm for centuries. Every gesture and movement is lithe, agile, capable. He smiles quietly and sketches a brief but elegant bow.

"May the gods guide you in your travels today."

Character History:

Who is this guy? You might ask yourself.
Well, I am Korran Stonebow, The Tiger’s shadow, Shadow monk of the Rose, Soul mate to Aphrael. Jack of all trades master of none, a friend, a fighter, and a rare treasure acquirer. My story is a long one indeed, so grab your favorite drink, rest a spell and enjoy….
This whole jumbled mess starts on Marisae the 2nd, The Shallow Graves, year 2383, at 3pm, which is the date of my birth. I was born on an overcast afternoon in the half-elf camp Southwest of Loth Lorien. My parents I never knew, and I was raised to manhood by the peaceful folk who resided there. After many years of terrorizing the camp with pranks and spoofs, I took up apprenticeship with the local Magician. At first I was very clumsy with even the smallest incantation. One morning while resting at the Altar of S’Meric, my master was showing me how to create balls of light out of thin air. He went over the small chant and the slight movement of his fingers very carefully and then had me try it… Well, let’s just say old man Jacek did not find it to funny when his hair turned purple and his feet grew out of his shoes. Once I got the hang of speaking the words of magic, and the weird way you move your hands, I became a natural. I was able to cast most spells with ease. With this new talent my pranks became even better. I can still remember Helena yelling into thin air, “The Gods will string you up by your toes Korran!”, as I ran away invisible and laughing, with the newly baked bread she once had in her basket.
I was found most days hunting and fishing in the forest and streams south of camp. I was a better fisherman than a hunter. Tanner, a local ranger had spent some time with me, teaching me the art of the bow. This was a useful tool during the hunt; however, I did not pick up the bow as easily as I picked up magic spells. Tanner took to calling me Stonebow, he would say “You shoot a bow as if it was made of granite, loosen up kid.” Unfortunately the name stuck, and everyone in camp began calling me that. Since I never knew who my parents were, I took up the last name.

It was in these forests I met my first life long friend, Arkanis an Elf from Loth Lorien. We would enjoy things such as hunting, gambling, and most of all adventure. The next few years are kind of a blur between seeing the back of Arkanis running away from the terrors we had gotten ourselves into, and the wine he borrowed from the cellars in his hometown. As we grew together and explored farther from the safeties of our forests, our experience grew as well. We took up the art of the shadows. Thieves is what some people call us, I like to use the term professional treasure seeker. We would spend hours alone in the forests, tracking each other, hiding from each other, and even sparring.

We spoke often of the Gods, wondering what each had to offer us. Arkanis ended up in Robert’s hall of Unity, and I ended up carrying the banner of Tokugawa. Arkanis always did mean well, and that following suited him. I on the other hand thought to be neutral is to borrow stuff from everyone equally. So I decided Tokugawa’s following is where I needed to be. The next years where the most fun of my all my life.

Boy was I wrong about the neutral thing. Although the years I spent with Tokugawa and the Balance following was not what I thought it would be. I learned more about the realm than I could ever imagine. To be neutral is not to borrow stuff from everyone equally. It is to preserve the balance between good and evil. Arkanis would spend his days out saving the world from evil, while I would spend mine mediating between good and evil. I started to realize you can’t have one with out the other, and to protect the realm from certain doom you need both alignments. I made a lot of new friends within the following, and soon considered them family. Well, that is the only family I ever really had.

I found my one and only soul mate in my stay with Balance. The lady Aphrael. We would dance the nights away in the temple. We spent time together on adventures, and long walks in the forest. The two of us where inseparable. We where never formally married but it didn’t matter to us, we knew how we felt. She consumed my every thought, my every dream. To this day her spirit resides in my heart, and always will.

With our skills ever growing our adventures never ceased. Arkanis and I found ourselves fighting our way through pirates on the long ship, as well as strolling through the halls of Isiira. During this time Tokugawa took his leave from the realm and the following was disbanded. I walked the realm for 100+ years disheartened, and saddened. I finally came to peace with the loss of my Deity and descided to start looking for new and better things than depression. A lot had changed in that 100 + years, old Gods and Goddess left, and new ones came to power.

Aphrael and I would spend time together even more now. We eventually found a new home with Tripper and his new Tigers. The balance had shifted to strongly towards Evil. So, what better way to play the part of balance than join the Good side of the fight. The tiger den was the sight of many fun times. I remember one time the gang through Athorne into Tripper’s pool. The dang metal clad dwarf couldn’t swim. He sank straight to the bottom and walked to the shallow end and clambered out. Perhaps the funnest of times, was when Skeeve would say “Hey guys I got a great idea, let’s go get (insert an impossible item to obtain here)” We worked together as a team gathering items we would need for the adventure. Perhaps grabbing a few extra pieces of armor, cause we knew are fine suits of armor would be etched clean off our bodies. I lost more items with Skeeve, than I had lost in 400 years to the Black Conclave. During my stay with the Tigers I had grown accustom to hiding in any situation, my professional treasure seeking skills where becoming second nature. The other followers had come to know me as the Tiger’s shadow. Tripper’s reign on the realm had made a difference, and the balance of power was once again shifting back towards Good, and a working balance of alignments again. Tripper eventually fell from power as well, and Aphrael and I where left without a following once again. Aphrael could not take the loss of another deity and eventually left the realms herself, I morn her absence.

Again I walked the realms with no Deity, but, I was getting kind of used to it. I found my next home with Majere, and the clan of the Rose. Most Tigers found this new following also. So it was like being back in the Tigers with out Tripper. After a very short but successful reign on the realms Majere to retired. That is where I stand now, without a soul mate, without a Deity, without family. Not unlike how I came into this world.
So now I ask you, who is this guy?
Perhaps your friend, Perhaps someone who is just watching over your belt pouch…..

The Pebble

11/22/2003: Log by Cordir

Korran makes a complicated-looking gesture.
Korran draws a funny looking rune on (Quivering) The pebble of worldly destruction.

You giggle.
You say, 'I love that item'.

Korran smiles happily.
Korran says (in common), 'You know the story behind that item?'.

You shake your head.
You say, 'But I'm curious...'.

Korran smiles happily.
Korran says (in common), 'It is a well guarded item by my family...'.

Korran says (in common), 'If this pebble is plucked from its leather necklace and cast to the ground in anger or Hatered, the world will end....'.

You ponder the question.
You say, 'Interesting indeed!'.

Korran says (in common), 'It has been a family belief for centuries'.
Korran says (in common), 'So I guard it, to the end, as my father did before me'.
Korran says (in common), 'And as my son will some day do '.
Korran says (in common), 'I mean can you immagine if this fell into the wrong hands?'.

Korran smiles happily.

You nod.
You say, 'indeed.'.
You say, 'real wrath of god stuff.'.
You wink suggestively.

Korran says (in common), 'Some people doubt it's power, but do you want to be the one to pluck it? I sure as hell don't'.

Korran bows before you.

Trivia:

  • Korran is currently serving as the Ordained of the Nexus.
  • It was tradition in the Chosen of Fate that when a member reached level 50, that Cordir would design them a set of 'full body restrings' -- ie, a restring for each worn slot. Korran had this to say about his proposed concept:

Cordir ftells, 'korran, any idea on your 'theme'?'.
Korran ftells, 'Yes'.
Korran ftells, 'My first restring is gonna be, a large velvet fedora and enormous purple plume'.
Cordir ftells, 'a fedora with a plume?'.
Korran ftells, 'Yes'.
Cordir ftells, '*blink*'.
Cordir ftells, 'I've never seen a fedora worn with a plume. like. ever.'.
Korran ftells, 'Then I want a extremely gaudy fur coat'.
Cordir ftells, 'I WILL NOT HAVE PIMPS'.
Pol ftells, 'lol!'.
Korran ftells, 'Haha'.
Cordir ftells, 'Fate is PIMP FREE'.
Korran ftells, 'I am kidding'.
